Movie Reviews of Porcupine Tree: Arriving Somewhere

Movie Review: Take this Trip!
Summary: 5 Stars

The reviewer 'bruceski" sums this DVD up very nicely, so I won't waste much space here.
Steven Wilson is, of course, Amazing here.
Nothing against Chris Maitland, because he is an excellent drummer, but the switch to Gavin Harrison (shown and heard on this DVD) is powerful! The guy doesn't miss.
This is an incredibly tight band.

Be sure you are 'properly medicated' while enjoying the interesting additions on disc 2, particularly 'Cymbal Song'.

Note: bruceski might be pleased to know that point 3 of his 'minor complaint' list has apparently been rectified. My copy came in an exceptionally sturdy plastic housing.

Movie Review: First class quality.... musically perfect... it's all about the musak
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been following these guys since 2001 only, bought everything and have enjoyed the progression since a ".. on a given Sunday" up to "Deadwing" without a single compplaint. This guys are sweetly darkly unique... sentimental and dark.... with an upbeat groove. Just some words to describe them. All of it is shown on this live concert. Perfectly performed, great sound and simple but excellent editing.
NO COMPLAINTS. Actually I'm bying another copy from amazon at 14 bucks, even though that I have allready number 1135 from 2000 bought directly from the Burning Shed.

A must if you like only one of their CD's/.....

Movie Review: One of the Best DVD's I've Seen
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a drummer and also have an interest in photography/ videography. Being a huge fan of Porcupine Tree, when I discovered this DVD, I bought it immediately. The band plays great as usual during this live show, but what really impressed me was the camera work. The video company who shot this DVD really knows music and found some of the best camera angles I've seen on a live show. Their use of focus shifting and colorization is spectacular. It goes without saying that the band's musicianship is awesome, and Gavin Harrison's drumming is inspiring. If you are a fan of Porcupine Tree, definitely buy this DVD.

Movie Review: Really great DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fantastic DVD. Must have for any Porcupine Tree fan, and a great way to get to know their music if you haven't heard it before, but you are interested to. Recomended for fans of Rush, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, King Crimson... basically anything in the prog-metal and symphonic rock vein.

The video in itself has a lot of effects that go very well with the music; so, if you like to watch the performance like you would in a live show and hate special effects on live concert dvds, you might want to think twice about this one. For me, I think it enhanced the musical experience.

Movie Review: Finally, the TREE on DVD.
Summary: 5 Stars

I must admit that I'm biased when it comes to mentioning the band Porcupine Tree, because, they are a favorite of mine. So, my review will be a positive one.The band with the addition of another guitarist/vocalist is unbeatable. They are all excellent musicians and their repertoire is fanatastic. I think that they are a band that continually reaches for musical levels in all aspects. They are, in my mind, under-rated, with little or no exposure here in Canada. The DVD is superb!! The production, the songs and the musicianship are all first-class!! Check it out.
