Movie Review: What about 1941 and 1942?
Summary: 4 Stars
Volume 1 was simply fantastic.
Volume 2 looks to be another winner.
However, there are 18 films not included here on Volume 2, all from 1941 and 1942.
Will those years come out later as a single disk release Volume 3?
Since Volume 1 was 4 disks, I was expecting the remainder of the Flesicher Popeyes to come out on Volume 2 (on 3 disks).
Now I guess we'll all have to wait another year for the last 18 cartoons.
Volume 3 (whenever it comes out) will include one of my favorites: the insomnia-inducing musical mayhem of Popeye's nephews in "Pip-eye, Pup-eye, Poop-eye, and Peep-eye".
The Warner Brothers web site makes reference to additional features on Volume 2 but, as of April 7, does not elaborate. My guess is that they will follow what they did in Volume 1, i.e., documentaries, commentary, and maybe some early Out of the Inkwell cartoons.
Oh well, I'll buy this, and Volume 3 whenever it comes out.
Why are they making us wait?
I guess Warner Home Video thinks that since we've waited 70 years, another year won't make that much difference
