Movie Reviews of Poison Ivy II: LilyMovie Review: Poison Ivy II - A Masterpiece of Modern Cinema!! Summary: 3 Stars
If I knew that I'd be watching Samantha Micelli naked on DVD when I was 7 years old I would definitely NOT believe it. But it's true and this DVD is worth every cent you pay for that reason alone. I've seen all of the installments in the Poison Ivy Series and the 1st and 3rd aren't as entertaining as this one. Of course this one is utter crap also but in comparison to the other's it's way more enjoyable. But I'm partial to Alyssa Milano over Drew Barrymore and Jamie Pressly. It's just a matter of taste in women because let's face it - no one's watching this for it's cinematography or unique vision.

Movie Review: First half: dire. Second half: better Summary: 2 Stars
Alyssa Milano is one of my favourite actresses, after seeing all seasons of Charmed. She's a natural. So you can pretty much guess why I bought Poison Ivy 2.
You know most of the story from the original movie, and Alyssa basically does nothing apart from look pretty - even in a pair of DUNGAREES she still looks gorgeous. I got a phonecall about 20 minutes in, which made me seriously consider switching it off and watching something else, but I was determined to at least give it a chance. Wish I'd stayed on the phone now!
There's not much depth in the first 40+ minutes of the movie. It's setting up for anyone who hasn't seen the first movie, not that it's repeating the first, but it is incredibly boring. The very, very, very, very, first scene (did I make it clear it was the first scene?), Alyssa appears partially topless and doesn't seem to wear any underwear throughout the rest of the movie.
Basically she moves to a new city after having an illicit relationship with what appears to be her teacher, and is instantly attracted to her male sculptor (think Jason Smith from Sex & The City, and those Absolut Vodka adverts), but is also semi-attracted to her art teacher, who is a total sleaze. She ends up babysitting for her art teacher's daughter (Camilla Belle from Practical Magic) and one thing leads to another. You know the rest.
There's a happy ending tacked onto the end of this, after a pretty shocking incident (which I did not see coming) but it seems worthless after you've sat through the first half of the movie. What should have been done, would have been to scrap the first half and redo it all over. Would have been a better movie for it, because even though the second half is good, it doesn't make up for sitting through the first half. Pretty much watch for Alyssa Milano only. Otherwise steer well clear.
Movie Review: "A Disapointment" Summary: 2 Stars
With Drew's first Poison Ivy,I loved it!!! Then I saw the 2nd one and watched it.Well to tell you the truth,it was not what I expected,it was dull and predictable...Alyssa Milano was ok,it really did'nt have much of a storyline/plot,except the same B movie that a young attractive girl moves her way into a family that she wants, similar to Poison Ivy.But not vey good,I actually fell asleep in the middle of this film, shows it dosent catch my attention...If you are looking for a movie with a lot of sex,and Alyssa taking her clothes off then this is the movie for you.But if you want a movie that will catch your attention, dont rent this one.Its just plain sex B-movie,I think they thought after making Poison Ivy with Drew Barrymore, and it was a good movie(my opinion),they thought why not make another, probably thinking it would go off good like the first, well it didnt. As they say sequel's are not as good as the 1st,on this movie,I agree...All it was, was Alyssa taking her clothes off, seducing, and just plain dumb...Anyone can take their clothes off,but you had better have a plot to be considered a good movie...I say, stick with Drew Barrymore's performance in the first Poison Ivy,at least it was exciting and never dull or dumb...And that movie did have a plot,if you really watch,Drew's character, wanted what she never had,a family, and she snuck into the family, and began to start little problems, she wanted to be in the family, the only way was to get rid of the wife who was dying of emphysema,(Cheryl Ladd),and then her trusted new friend,(Sara Gilbert),and then after they were gone, start her seductive moves on the father,(Tom Skerrit),and then she would be in...But that took a different turn,at least it had a good plot and good star's that could really act,so if you want to watch Poison Ivy,I would not recommend Poison Ivy 2,it was not THAT good, hope this helped...
Movie Review: Not what it should be Summary: 2 Stars
If you've seen the original Poison Ivy, then you kindof know what you should expect to see when watching the 2nd. And if you liked the original, you will be severely disappointed by this sequel. After having watched the original Poison Ivy, I looked forward to this one. Unfortunately, this is one of those sequels that had a lot going for it until the creators ruin it. What the movie is *supposed* to be about is a "good girl" (Milano) just starting college in a new place and doesn't know anyone, so she tries to fit in by making changes to herself and her personality. She finds old diaries of the original "Ivy" and learns Ivy's art of seduction from them and slowly, but surely becomes her own version of what Ivy was. Ok, that sounds to me like the premise for a great sequel...but the creators of the movie ruined it by: 1. Not enough emphasis on our "new Ivy"'s mental change and growing obsession with her new ways. 2. Because of what I mentioned above in #1, our new Ivy (Milano) isn't very creepy at all. The change from her good girl image to that of Ivy is shallow, at best. There is no obsession, no reminder of the drive behind her character. 3. Because of #2, our new Ivy is not in control of the story. Her pervert teacher is. In fact, she is even treated as a victim in the end. What?! Where's the seduction? Where's the loss of control? 4. Given what the movie is supposed to be about, the ending definitely leaves a lot to be desired. So she realizes the "error of her ways" (and since there was never really any emphasis on exactly what her "error" was, that statement is a misnomer) and hooks up with her boyfriend. Big deal. No thrills, no suspense. It would've been better if they had not made this movie in the first place, but since they gave it a shot...2 stars.
