Movie Review: Fascinating
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great thing to see no matter which side you are on in the NcCarthy debate. I consider myself a Liberal but at the same time I think McCarthy has been vindicated somewhat by history. We now know that communists WERE infiltrating every level of the US government at that time, and that it was a bigger threat to democracy than we knew. McCarthy was right. But it was his tactics which I think rubbed people the wrong way. He was so vehement in his crusade that he was willing to sacrifice a few innnocents (i.e. the assistant to Mr. Welch) if it meant furthering the greater cause of fighting world communism. You see this in the movie - McCarthy was just plain "not liked" by many people on a personal level, and this was his downfall. He didn't care whom he ticked-off, because he felt so strongly about his cause. A flawed person, yes, but a noble cause never-the-less.
