Movie Reviews of Play Misty for MeMovie Review: A Clint classic finally on DVD! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a dynamite film - period. Predecessor to thrillers such as "Fatal Attraction," this is one of Eastwood's best films (as far as I'm concerned). But what makes the DVD version so good (besides the image quality) is that it has lots of extras, such as interviews with Eastwood, Donna Mills and Jessica Walter about how the film was made, what went on behind the scenes, etc. This is also one of the best Clint Eastwood DVDs out there, because it has so much interesting bonus material included. Ditch the VHS and get the DVD!
Movie Review: "Play Misty" Rings Hitline True! Summary: 5 Stars
We used to call them, "Hitline Honeys" at WNDR, WTLB, WTAC, WWCK, WIOT, WCWA, KSO, WFBL, WBVE and every other radio station I knew up close. Clint Eastwood's debut as a Director improves with age in this original version (for any practical purpose) of "Fatal Attraction" with Michael Douglas. Same story. Different framing. Similar kind of end. I can't believe we all looked like that back in '71. This is a VERY cool film from an artistic and historical perspective. Along with the rest of the Galaxy, I give it all twelve thumbs up.
Movie Review: A Hitchkock-like plot by Eastwood Summary: 5 Stars
If You like a good drama with great suspense You will like this movie. Wonderfully set in the county of Carmel north of Los Angeles a girl (Jessica Walter) has fallen in love with a disc jockey (Clint Eastwood) by listening to his radio show. She evaluates a "stalkerlike" caracter and shows up and irritates him in various ways, which he really do not like. As the story moves on it reveals her as a psycopat and closes up with a great dramatic end. A fantastic debut as a director by Eastwood.
Movie Review: Play Misty Again and Again Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw this movie in the 70s shortly after it was released. I was fascinated with the mystery of it, and I loved the haunting beauty of the Carmel CA coastline. But as a big jazz fan I especially loved the Dee Barton musical score. I could, and have, watched the movie over and over again just for the music. It has been a perpetual favorite of mine ever since, having worn out the VHS copy long ago and replaced it with DVD. Now won't somebody please release the soundtrack on CD?
Movie Review: Play Misty For Me Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie back in the 70s and enjoyed it then, so bought it from Amazon.com now. It's still a great movie. If you are a Clint Eastwood fan, you'd like it anyway, but the clothes, cars and general time period this was in is very enjoyable to me. Brought back lots of 70's memories.
Good psycho flick. Jessica Walter is just as crazy as Glenn Close is in "Fatal Attraction", and just as believable.
