Movie Reviews of Play Misty for MeMovie Review: Clint Plays The Victim... Summary: 5 Stars
Yep, Clint Eastwood, DIRTY HARRY himself, is the victim in this movie! As strange as that may sound, it works! His radio DJ character, Dave Garver is still a macho sort of a guy, but he definitely has his hands full w/ Evelyn Draper (Jessica Walter). Evelyn isn't the type of gal who can be tossed aside after a one-night-stand. She is an ultra-needy, schizoid psychotic w/ a penchant for big, sharp knives! Dave tries to be nice. He attempts to give her the slip, resulting in Evelyn's total mental melt-down! PLAY MISTY FOR ME is a superb thriller w/ a terrific cast, including Donna Mills as Dave's girlfriend Tobie, and John Larch as an unfortunate police detective. Highly recommended to anyone who thinks their last relationship ended badly...
Movie Review: Classic Clint Eastwood Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very early Clint Eastwood classic--before he began westerns. An early portrayal of love obsession towards a desireable DJ (Eastwood). We see a softer side of the actor as a woman becomes enamored with him and ultimatly consumed with him.
Living as a carefree young bachelor, Eastwood rekindles a love affair with an earlier girlfriend. Neither the girlfriend nor Eastwood realize how intense his radio listener-admirer's feelings are for him.
Life changes as his fan becomes threatening, showing up out of nowhere at strange times, weapons in hand.
Thrills and chills follow as this lady pursues Eastwood. Her final request being "Play Misty for Me".
Movie Review: Good debut directorial! Summary: 5 Stars
Play Misty meant the forst movie of this talented folm maker. This one is a tense psychological thriller which opened the inspiration sixteen years later to Fatal atraction, Jessica Walter (Nominated as best dramatic actress in 1971 for the Golden Globe), gives a surprisingly role as never before , as the outrageous lover who literally remains obsessed with Dave Garver (Clint)a nigttime disc jockey who loves the jazz and receives all kind of calls by phone. His affair is obviously unexpected , but it will lead to several bitter headaches and disturbing situation. Well thriller , and stills keeps its expressive force.
Movie Review: Play Misty For Me...Anytime Summary: 5 Stars
Clint Eastwood's directorial debut is terrific! His eye for photography, location scouting and coaching make for a poignant and petrifying film.
Jessica Walters is eerily realistic as Dave Garver's (Clint Eastwood) number one fan and one-night stand, so much so she induces nightmares of obsession gone overboard.
With a very selective soundtrack (one original composition, two romantic staples and live jazz.) the suspense is left for the editing and acting. This film scores a perfect ten in my books in these two areas among other categories.
One of my all-time favorite films!
Movie Review: How to get rid of a mad woman and live happily ever after. Summary: 5 Stars
The whim and fancies of a disc jockey
caught by a glimpse of a common, lonely lady
one evening in a bar.
It's supposed to be just a one-night-stand,
but it turned to be a nightmare to David(Clint Eastwood)
Evelyn isn't obsessed by love, but by her JEALOUSY.
She becomes more vulgar and spiteful, her villain behaviours
have made it more difficult for David to get her off his back.
If you like Arturo Mantovani, you'll surely like this movie.
An enjoyable performance,a fantastic Jessica Walter's interpretation.Extremely thrilling.
