Movie Review: A good introduction to the Diabelli Variations, especially for people who are not familiar with the work
Summary: 3 Stars
This is a good video if you are new to Beethoven's magnificent Diabelli Variations and want about 20 minutes of background information and commentary by the pianist, followed by about 55 minutes of a performance of the complete work. The visuals of a performance may be especially worth having, since live performances of this work are infrequent. For people already familiar with the work, the commentary, while informed and enthusiastic, may seem less than revelatory.
