Movie Reviews of Pink Floyd - PulseMovie Review: A musical and visual masterpiece..... Summary: 5 Stars
Pink Floyd, in my humble opinion, has achieved a level of sonic and spatial sophistication and brilliance that continues to prove timeless and without peers. "Pulse" is the crowning achievement for a threesome that clearly understood the fact that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and, regardless of one's maniacal and mispercieved sense of self importance, had conviction that the name and the music must go on. For that, we are all direct beneficiaries and I, for one, want to say "thank you" for soldiering on.....
My favorite part of the disc, you ask? It's during the first minute of "The Great Gig in the Sky" when David looks over at Richard and smiles while working his slide guitar soon followed by Richard looking over at David and smiling as he manipulates a classic jazz chord on his piano. Physically, their positions on the stage couldn't be further apart. Spiritually, they're as connected on this disc as when they first came together.
A wise philosopher once said that, truly, one has no idea of what they have until it's gone. Fortunately for us, Pink Floyd is alive and kicking and that, in my book, gives hope that they'll one day soon bless us with another live masterpiece. If only for one evening, it will be a night not soon forgotten.....
Movie Review: All Pink Floyd is great!! Summary: 5 Stars
My favorite version of PF included David, Roger, Nick and Rick, and I'd be thrilled if they reformed to record again. Never cared much for the Syd stuff but I have immense respect for those that do. Pulse and Delicate Sounds of Thunder are sorely missing Roger's vocals, but the situation is what it is and I am still very grateful to have a PF dvd involving the other three. And were they generous with the extras on this dvd or what??
May I also suggest Roger Waters solo cd's, especially The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Eric Clapton's guitar is great... A superb cd.
Someone called David Gilmour a session guitarist? Wow that's like calling the bible a paperback book, or Pink Floyd's The Wall "just a cd"! That man plays the most emotional guitar I've ever heard, and his voice is perfect for Floyd (along with Roger's). And as for Roger Waters, what an incredible writer, and his voice is unique and outstanding! I cannot begin to say how many times and to what depth his voice, lyrics and music have deeply, deeply touched my soul like no other music.
I salute all of Pink Floyd - Syd, Roger, Nick, Rick and David!
God bless them all and may we be blessed with more of their recordings!!!
Movie Review: Pink is best Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first PINK FLOYD video that i have ever bought after
being a PINK FLOYD fan for a lot of years and i AM glad that i did.
I love the production both with the music and the visuals.
Dave has the ever popular back up girls, lasers and screaming strat
sound as he always had.
It is refreshing to see a great musician that has never lost it with his talent.
This dvd is packed with great songs and extra footage with New-
5.1 surround. The songs on this are.......
crazy diamond- learning to fly- high hopes- take it back- coming back to life- sorrow- keep talking- another brick in the wall part 2-
one of these days- speak to me- breathe in the air- on the run-
time- the great gig in the sky- money- us and them- any colour you like
brain dammage- eclipse- wish you were here- comfortably numb-
and run like hell.
The extra's are pretty cool too. There is an area that is called
bootlegging the bootleggers where they use bootleg footage
in sort of a collage.
In this dvd is a couple of the original pink floyd vids as well.
They would be.... say goodbye to life as we know it and wish you
were here with BILLY CORGAN!
Movie Review: Magnificent Summary: 5 Stars
This is the long awaited release of Pink Floyd at Earls Court in 1994. The best songs in the set include 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', 'One Of These Days' (brilliant), the whole of 'Dark Side Of The Moon' (stunning), a show-stopping 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Comfortably Numb' where the combination of Gilmour's extended solo and the light show are just awesome - one of the great moments in recorded rock history.
This high quality double-disc set has loads of extras too.
But there is one significant omission from the original show: 'Astronomy Domine' is not included in this release, which is a pity. However the many extras on the disc more than make up for this - and there is a storming rendition of 'One of These Days' to savour.
We've waited a long time for this - it is Floyd at their best and this gig is much better than their recent Live 8 appearance. One might even say it's undiluted by Waters!
This is a 'must have' DVD for any rock fan. If Pink Floyd ever do reform, they are unlikely to top this. The light show has never been surpassed and it compliments the set perfectly. This is prog rock on a grand scale and the whole show really is an awesome experience.
Movie Review: wow is an understatement!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This DVD set is a must have if you're into PF and if you are not sure, buy this and see what you have been missing. Simply Awesome. My 14 YO couldn't move, he was glued to the set and this never happens. Then, the next day, there he was again, this time with 4 of his friends. Nobody ever has, or will put on a better live show than PF. My son agrees. Of course he is of the persuation that the best music was before his time: Hendrix, The Who, PF, The Doors, Santana, Joe Walsh/James Gang, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Janis, jerry and the boys, Led Zep, ABB, Little Feat, Rick Derringer, Uriah Heap, all the hair bands and/or heavy metal, etc, etc, you get the picture. Now if I can just get him to put the CD's back where he found them ,lol. Really cool though to share this DVD set with the younger genX. I missed this tour as my son was 2 and we had a daughter on the way, but with this DVD no matter. I must warn you, you will not want to leave the set once you start this up. Also check out the other parts of these DVD's, i.e. bootleg from the bootleggers and all the other extras. And after you get this playing, try going back and changing the sound under audio settings. Then, get a pint and settle in for some awesome entertainment.
