Movie Reviews of Pink Floyd - Pulse

Movie Review: Awesome to the n_th degree !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, my opinion of the Waters-Gilmour debate. Roger was and still is a great songwriter. But as a (literally) "old fart" floyd fan...when you hear pre "wall" floyd songs (and post barrett) you are hearing David Gilmour's lead vocal, for the most part. My 2 favorite Wall songs are both primarily Gilmour's music and Waters lyrics, Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell. Roger, however, was always more prolific than gilmour in turning out songs, similar to lennon/mccartney and harrison. Regarding the Wall, it has many times been said that Waters pretty much took over the band during the recording. I was disappointed when The Wall was released that Waters took over most of the lead vocals on this album. Not because he is a bad singer, just because, to me, Gilmour's ethereal vocals were THE SOUND of pink floyd, in addition to his fantastic guitar work.

Anyway, now my short review of PULSE. I simply refer you to the title of my review!! I was one of the lucky few who saw pink floyd RIGHT after the initial release of Dark Side of the Moon (tour of same), at a 3,000 seat venue. This was before Dark Side really made them a band for the masses. It remains one of my all time favorite concerts as well as one of the best I've ever seen, and I've been to 50+ (too old to remember exactly how many). This video brings it all back for me, the SOUND of pink floyd. GET IT !!!!!!!

Movie Review: Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.
Summary: 5 Stars

So, I sent Amazon.com an e-mail asking about the never-ending delays and their total lack of communication to their customers with regards to this tile; here's what I got back:

"I apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Our latest information indicates that "Pink Floyd - Pulse" has not yet been released and the expected release date is not known. Our suppliers have supplied the 2010 release date simply as a stand-in until they have more definite information.

As soon as an actual release date has been determined for this item, we will add that information to our web site.

While we do still hope that copies will be made available, we cannot provide more precise information about the fulfillment of the order.
In light of this uncertainty, we will understand if you would prefer to cancel your order. As of yet we have made no changes."

Amazon - you take part in the blame here, as you have not adjusted the estimated shipping times for the orders. According to mine, it should ship on the 31st of January 2006.

As for a review, I have the CD album of this concert - and it's great stuff. I've also seen the VHS - and it's even better. So, 5 stars for that, but overall - 1 star for the way the fans are being treated by the band, amazon.com and whoever else is responsible for these lame delays.

Movie Review: don't blame amazon
Summary: 5 Stars

Amazon should not post a release date for this dvd until the day after they recieve the first shipment and place it in stock. I am a lifelong fan. I was at 2 of the 3 foxboro shows in 1994. I have upgraded my home theatre system 2 times in 4 years waiting for this dvd. I am not getting any younger...what is the problem????!!!!

Amazon want's it releasesd so they don't have to listen to us wine anymore. EMI wants it released because there is money to be made... lots of money. Pulse will easily be the best selling music dvd ever grossing hundreds of millions. I am sure the band does not enjoy teasing their fans like this.. dangling a carrot and then ripping it away. This is not like them.

Maybe the outcry over the 4:3 aspect ratio has them trying to add a widesreen format or even an hd-dvd format. Not likely. Maybe the production company in charge is utterly innept. Not likely either. I think that with so much money at stake, the dvd is tied up in court. Over half of the show is Roger's intellectual property. He is entitled to a share of the revenues generated by such property and the sticking point is how much. It seems like they had a deal negotiated but it fell through at the last minute. This is all speculative in the absense of any explaination at all for cancelling the release. Who is to blame for this.....who else.... LAWERS.

Movie Review: Letting me down

Mate!!!!!
What the hell are you thinking!
I have purchased many many many Pink Floyd Cds, Videos, Tapes etc over the years.
I have spent hours upon hours looking for this on DVD. I too could quite easily buy a bootleg copy and for many other Bands probably would but Pink Floyd NEVER, I want the whole package as only Pink Floyd can create. I too have waited and I have to say " David you've let me down! I can appreciate the reason to wait for the best possible reproduction, I expect no less from you guys, but making your loyal fans hold on for best part of a year so your own can get out there, What the F***!!!! Loyal fans will buy both and thats what I am, but admitting that is a real kick in the teeth. I'll say this much "I aint going to purchase your solo effort until Pulse is out" I can't believe after all the years and money people like me have invested into Pink Floyd that commercialism is what stopping your loyal fans from getting this on DVD" David if you read any of these, I'm disappointed in you and you need to change your mind or Fans of 30years like me will not buy your solo in protest and just remember the sounds of Pink Floyd that we remember. On a positive note you guys need a world tour, or atleast what's left anyway. Pink Floyd is still a sell out in every stadium in the world. Try that if you want some Cash!

Movie Review: Best Gilmour performance available
Summary: 5 Stars

I give this disc 5 stars because it is the best sample of Gilmour doing what he does availabel on DVD.

Lets first start with the video quality. To correct the last reviewer this is a 4:3 DVD NOT 16:9. When stretched out to 16:9 the video is decent, but not great. Dont expect a R.W. In The Flesh Live type of video quality. This concert was recorded on video instead of film, and that is a mistake. Never the less you wont be disappointed with the results of the digital remastering.

The sound quality is amazing. The band is tight and very talented. This disc is more of a Gilmour production then Pink Floyd. He is clearly the star of the show and does almost all of the singing.

The first disc is almost completely Division Bell and Momentary Lapse material. If thats your bag you will love that disc. I prefer the older and deeper Floyd sound. However Gilmour makes the newer Floyd material amazing when heard and seen live. A major complement to the various talents of this great performer. The second half is Dark Side and some classics for the encoure including the best version of Run Like Hell you'll hear. I saw Gilmour this year and this disc does a great job of recreating the experience. I highly recommend this disc but In The Flesh Live is a better disc with better songs.
