Movie Review: Good for learning Pilates
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a good choice for anyone new to Pilates. It has 3 levels as well as a section about general principles and cautions before starting.

Each level has it's own lesson where the instructor teaches you the proper way to do the exercises you'll see in the routines in that level. This is a great feature so don't skip past it. When you get into the routine, and there are several to choose from at each level, there are cues and minimal instruction since you should have already done the "lesson" and be know what you're doing.

The beginner routines are very modified. Anyone should be able to do these. The intermediate moves a bit faster and only a couple exercises are modified, but only slightly. If you're new to Pilates it could take awhile to work up to the Advanced section. There are harder exercises in the advanced routines, no modifications and they move a bit faster then the other levels.

Movie Review: Simple, Customizable, Effective

This DVD is pretty simple to navigate and allows for a tremendous amount of user control/customization, which I cant say I've seen anywhere else and I have used a several fitness videos/DVDs over the years.

Pilates of itself, as someone else noted is not a weight loss method, but coupled with a sensible diet appropriate for your body type, you can defintely make gains in your fitness levels and firm your body, which I was able to do in about 6 weeks. I can not say enough positive stuff about the core exercises (abs), I mean my abs are so tight its incredible and I look forward to showing them off this summer at the beach. Tons of additional exercises that will streamline the body and tone traditional problem areas for women and shall I dare say men. With the variety you can count on using this DVD for some time, and still increase your fitness level.

Movie Review: Excellent!

This is an excellent DVD. You must be realistic however that just doing this DVD a few times a week will not make you loose weight. As the instructor discusses in the interview, there are other aspects to weight loss and pilates is not the only one. In addition, the instructors voice is slow in some parts (where appropriate in the beginning levels) and may be perceived as "monotone" - but this is not intended to be a motivating peppy DVD. It's purpose is to properly learn pilates technique to augment your workouts. Finally, for J.L. Garner who states her own mat instructor was trained by Romano (the Pilates Queen), the artistic director and instructor of this video, Karen Garcia, is also trained by her. Karen is an excellent instructor, extremely knowledgable, and her studios in Northern Virginia are very successful.

Movie Review: Nice Pilates Program

I wanted to add Pilates into my workout program and since I have another one of Karen's DVDs and have liked it, I decided to try this one.

I like the variety of workouts of different lengths. I also like that on Karen's DVDs there are sections called lessons where she teaches you the moves you need to know for the workouts. When you get to the workouts you aren't stopping to hear how to do everything.

There are 3 different levels. The beginner is really easy. Intermediate would be good for an average person who is in average shape. The advanced level is more challenging but you can work up to it.

Pilates is really helping with getting more tone in my hard to work spots. It's also helping me with my cardio. I feel like I'm just moving better in everything I do.

Movie Review: Goes with Me Wherever I Go

I am a professional model, and with my extensive travel its hard to get in a Pilates workout. I've been taking Pilates classes for about 2 years and love how my body looks and feels. What I was impressed with on the DVD was the amount of variety, for someone with my hectic schedule, it makes it easier for me to just pop the DVD in my suitecase and pull then choose a workout that is compatible with my time schedule at the moment, so when I do not have all the time I would like I still can squeeze in a good workout which ups my energy and confidence level especially when it comes time for a photo shoot, or walk down the catwalk. The core work exercises are great and help create the perfect tummy, and anything that can streamline my hips gets major points. In my opinion you can't go wrong.
