Movie Review: Poor Direction

I bought this DVD based upon the previous review. Though I agree, watching Gina Gershon is always a delight. But for the life of me, I'll never figure out why Gina stooped this low. Perhaps, she signed on because she owed a friend a favor. Perhaps she needed the money. Either way, it's too damn bad she starred in this flick. Most of Gina's roles in film are far more polished, more refined by, either, a talented director or an up-and-coming one with an eye for balance, for continuity, for great acting moments, and realism. Even the soundtrack lacks appeal. "Picture Claire" fails in all areas. The movie has moments throughout where the screen splits into 2, 3, 4, 5, and even 6 cubes, like director's during the 70's tried to do because it was something new, something different, but more annoying than artful. Splitting the screen failed in the 70's and it fails here as well. Juliette Lewis' French is not a distraction, though I must say her apparel looked more like a bag lady's than a French girl who wants to impress, what she believes, is her lover. For the Mickey Rourke fans, Mickey's appearance is brief. I mean real brief. I'm certain he needed the money otherwise; he would have crapped on the director, Bruce McDonald's front doorstep for just asking him to lend his name to this trash (Thank God, for Mickey's new role that puts him back into the mainstream with a great director; The Wrestler). This film ranks a bit lower than a B movie, maybe a C movie, could be a D movie. Too bad, I spent money on something I truly wanted to like, but consumer beware, this movie will not satisfy.
Summary of Picture Claire
They've got the wrong woman, but she may not live long enough to prove it! In only a few hours, Claire's life will be turned upside-down. Escaping a group of vengeful drug dealers, Claire flees to Toronto hoping to find Billy, the man of her dreams. But he's not everything he appears to be and Claire is about to fall into a web of secrets. Fighting against time and a case of mistaken identity, Claire must race to clear her name and get out alive.
