Movie Reviews of Phish - Live in VegasMovie Review: beggers can't be choosers Summary: 4 Stars
A great DVD for true Phans. Highlights are the amazing "Mikes Groove", the rare "Timber Ho", and a very nicely done Beatles cover of "A day in the life". The encore is terrible in my opinion and the 15 minute Trey speech is a total waste of time for a DVD. How many times do you really want to listen to that cheesey speech about his dream. On the other hand, by releasing a DVD this close to their hiatus, its a great snapshot of how tight they are playing together after 15 plus years without a break. They will never play that good as a unit again.
Movie Review: Great show, ok video Summary: 4 Stars
Great show, but as others have mentioned, the video quality is really not very good. It looks like it was filmed in low-definition (not just regular, but low). Also, if you're looking for lots of special features and things like that, you'll be disappointed. But the show is great and the sound quality is great. Well worth it for the low price this sells for. The stellar Twist and Sand are worth the price alone (note: Sand doesn't seem to appear on any of Phish's current Live-series CDs or on any other videos, so this is a nice rarity).
Movie Review: The music makes up for it Summary: 4 Stars
As the other reviews have mentioned, the visuals here are by no means stellar. Of all of the hours that I have spent listening to phish, however, the music here is some of the finest playing I have heard from them. Though not perfect, there are so many moments in this show that are magical and rocking. I was so impressed by the music that the poor visuals quickly become a non issue.
Movie Review: Is that a picture of Otis Redding? Summary: 4 Stars
Yes.Yes. Taken right before he died. Indeed, this DVD includes "I didn't know" with vaccum and all as well as a nice setlist of songs rarely played and classic like Weekapaug and Mike's Song! Also, A Day in the Life, though not as good as the 10/31/95 version. Still, a good show and pretty good quality, no fantastic but good enough to enjoy.
Movie Review: A great show Summary: 4 Stars
A good DVD of a great show. I wish that there was more Additional Features on the DVD.Better in scope than Bittersweet Motel, since it is one show from beginning to end.
