Movie Reviews of Phish - Live in Vegas

Movie Review: DOCKED A STAR FOR JIVE PACKAGING
Summary: 4 Stars

So here we are with Phish's first official home video (DVD). How much Phish had to do with it's production I don't know. What we end up with is fine stuff. It must have been maddening deciding what to put out, what show to do, what location etc. It looks like they said fuggit and just went with a random selection. Nothing really amazing happens yet nothing less than above average happens either. Pure Phish. Two longish sets with two cover tunes as encores. The video quality is fair. Way above bootleg quality but not pay per view multi camera zillion dollar quality either. The sound is perfect. Fantastic 5.1 seperation, if this were released as a live DVD-Audio with no visuals people would be losing their minds. Instead they will take the audio for granted and gripe about the image. I'm totally happy, there's even nearly a half hour of bonus footage and a photo gallery! My big beef is with WEA and the fact that all of their DVDs are packed in the cheapest materials. Flimsy, paper thin snap case design with tray teeth just waiting to break off. C'mon guys, I can't imagine that a keepcase could be much more $$.

Movie Review: Who cares
Summary: 4 Stars

Many people who have reviewed this have complained about the film quality and what not. I say who cares?!?!? I agree the quality of the picture could be better but what does it matter?!? I mean when youre at a show do you really pay that much attention to whats goin on with the boys on stage. I know I dont Im much to busy jamming out with my eyes closed and listening to the tunes. As for this dvd I think its great and definetley quenched a thirst I had for a long long time. I love throwin this in and rockin out with the boys. I actually think that the film quality is not bad and there are some great shots of the audience and band. All I can say is that we as phans sometimes become too picky and we forget that these are just four college boys from Vermont that absoloutley rip and always bring a smile to my face. I would reccomend this dvd to any fan of the band. Thanks once again boys!!! See ya in Vegas feb 2003!!!!!

Movie Review: Great show.
Summary: 4 Stars

Let me first of all set everyone straight with the facts.

1. This show was shot on video, not film. Because of this, the video quality may be not quite up to what everyone expects
2 This was NOT filmed in HD. - Again...stop complaining about the video. You're getting a great live Phish show, in it's entirety, and you'll live if the video isn't in freakin' 1080p HD.
3. If you're watching a Phish live DVD and expecting to see lots of shots of the crowd, well...I guess you're missing the point.
4. Why did they choose this show? Simple - Because they shot it, and had the footage available. And, most importantly, they know people will buy it. Simple
5. Whiners...all of you! :o)

Movie Review: Poor Video Quality- Excellent Audio
Summary: 4 Stars

Like other reviewers have said, I was confused at first about the poor quality of the DVD. At first i thought it was my HDTV for some reason but i tried it in different DVD players. Still poor quality.

HOWEVER, the audio is near perfect, and I think that phish puts forth a pretty awesome show. My critical ears didnt have a problem with it. I am buying Phish's "IT" DVD, and I am hoping it will be a little more professional.

I must pay homage to the DVD and say that I literally have spent hours on the couch watching this DVD, and i have thoroughly enjoyed it, which is why, despite poor video, still rate this at 4 stars.

Movie Review: Great Show
Summary: 4 Stars

For any Phish fans out there, this is a great DVD to have. The show is awesome, Phish puts on a great performance(as always), and their energy is captivating. When I watched this for the first time, there was nothing I could do to leave the room until it had come to an end. They play a great set, and it happens to be Trey's birthday- right before the second set the crowd sings "Happy Birthday" to him, it's too much! The end of the show is hysterical, it's worth the purchase just to see it. Also, Chris Kuroda once again does an amaizing job with the lights, completing this phenomenal show.
