Movie Review: One of the greats...

If your like me you appreciate great horror movies and understand that there are very few really great horror movies made. Well, this is one of them. It exudes the creepy atmospheric quality that is so elusive for directors and writers to capture. It is also surreal without being confusing. The ominous music score is nearly as perfect as John Carpenter's Halloween score and the Tallman is one of the best horror villians of the last 30 years...Movie Review: One of The Greats

It's great that Anchor Bay has released this edition of the dvd because it was starting to become very difficult for people to find Phantasm on dvd. Now others will be able to see this movie and remember how great it is. The dvd transfer looks and sounds great. Extras galore. Hand's down, this is a classic, it includes great special fx and makeup, great story, Don Coscerelli's best film so far, the first film of the series isn't always the best, but in this case it is, in my opinion, the sequels were good but they lacked the creepiness of the this film, so if your a fan of the genre look no further than to add this to your collection, it will be well worth it, highly recommended.Movie Review: Greatness!

I enjoyed this movie very much and will watch it off and on over the years! Had some dramatic/scary moments, but nothing that we havent all seen at one time or another. I was glad to get this at a bargain along with some other classics here at Amazon. Supernatural, though not in the way a poltergeist is. There's still gore and reality here; not so much ephemeral ghosts. Youth, Death, Love and the afterlife all explored. Sort of a surrealist's horror tale, at once outrageous, campy, genuinely suspenseful and ominously terrifying.
