Movie Reviews of Peyton PlaceMovie Review: A must see movie Summary: 5 Stars
This is my all time favorite movie. I scene it for the first time, when it came out in 1957 while stationed in the Air Force in Japan, and have scene it many times since. It has everything that and excellent movie should have, I thought Gone With The Wind was the greatest show until I scene Peyton Place, and you might know that it is put out by Fox Studios who seem to be the slowest studio for putting any movie on DVD Enough for the complaints on Fox, If you want to see a super movie, set down grab your popcorn and coke and enjoy 2hrs and 37mins of great entertainment.
Movie Review: A lost Art Summary: 5 Stars
Peyton Place is one of the classics in movie making. unfortunately a lost art in comparison to today's outrageously horrid form of preserving this art. It stands up on its own as piece displaying fine writing (on its own accord), fine acting, scoring and direction. Those who are not too adversely conditioned by today's movies; who still possess the ability to appreciate the finer things will find this film a gem of the cherished type of movie making that too few of us lone for. I am a philosopher and writer of aphorisms. [...]
Movie Review: Secrets and Lies and Scandals, oh my! Summary: 5 Stars
Hey, it was a soap opera. But quite an epic and probably rather shocking given its release year of 1957, not to mention that it was set in 1941. It may be melodramatic at times, but that doesn't stop it from making you gasp now and then at the gossip, buried secrets that don't stay buried forever, rape, other violence, love affairs, and other goings-on in the small but very busy town of Peyton Place. A fine cast, nice setting, and the usual dramatic score round it out. Very much worth a look.
Movie Review: All time great Story Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw this movie as a young child at the show with my family. I have seen it many times on TV since, but they always cut out parts to get it to fit in their time restrictions. I have always wanted to find a copy of my own and have now done so. Lana Turner poytrays an excellent charater as the mother of Allison (Lee Phillips). There are a number of other well known actors in this film such as Lloyd Nolan, Arthur Kennedy, Russ Tamblyn, David Nelson, etc. This is a must see film.
Movie Review: Cant wait for the dvd of Peyton Place Summary: 5 Stars
I remeber reading my grandmothers copy of Peyton Place when I was about 15 and loved the book. But the movie I feel in love with, the scenery and the whole outlook of the movie was keept in tune with the book. Lana Turner and Hope Lange and Diane Varsi are just simply what old Hollywood is all about. The only sad thing is that it never received not one oscar for it outstanding work. I have it on laser disc, I cant wait for the dvd to come out as it will be superb!!!!!!
