Movie Review: A Child's Best Friend
Summary: 5 Stars
My children were in elementary school when I took them to see "Pete's Dragon". It soon became one of their favorite Disney movies. There was something unique in their response to this movie as compared with other Disney features. In most Disney features my children loved the hero or heroines. In this one, they were enthralled by the villains and the supporting characters. My children were enthralled by the villains (the Gogans and Dr. Terminus). They took great delight in singing these characters songs and imitating them. They laughed at the antics of those great character actors: Mickey Rooney ("Lampie"), Red Buttons ("Hoagy") and Jim Backus ("The Mayor"). My children are now in their thirties, we traded in our old VHS Recording of this film and purchased this DVD. Hopefully, we will continue to enjoy it with them and my grandchildren for years to come.
