Movie Reviews of Permanent Record

Movie Review: The most emotional work Mr. Reeves has ever done
Summary: 5 Stars

I do not have to write a lot about this movie accept to say it was moving, rare, deep and brilliant. Most people are not going to understand or get this movie. I can tell by watching people every day, talking to them, personal experience, and by doing online surveys. They may "like" something, but it does not mean they truly understand it or grasp the meaning that most miss in this movie. I do not nor will I divulge why the person took their own life in this movie because it is a thinking and feeling movie, something that is not very popular or grasped in reality in this world. And this type never truly has been. The song that was sung solo near the end of this movie is absolutely beautiful, sweet and rare which makes the whole movie even better. One of the best EVER and in the top ten of my favorites for sure and always will be. You just do not see this anymore.

Movie Review: How to get the song "Wishing on Another Lucky Star"
Summary: 5 Stars

It's not recorded by J.D. Souther, the whole soundtrack is by Joe Strummer and his band at the time, and it's actually a soundtrack for "Permanent Record." It sounds different than sung by the characters in the movie, but like how it's played in the credits. It's awesome, and I ordered it here, on Amazon...! Here's the link, good luck all!

Permanent Record [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]

Movie Review: A young Keanu Reeves shows some real emotions & depth along with his musical talent playing the guitar.
Summary: 5 Stars

PERMANENT RECORD-1988 Is the story of how a teens suicide affects the lives of those who he left behind; the films show how those closest to him deal with his death; The film displays a young Keanu Reeves showing some real emotions & depth along with his musical talent playing the guitar and trying to organize his friends into showing a tribute to their friend.

Movie Review: Powerful
Summary: 3 Stars

This film was way ahead of its time. In this day and age, teenage suicides happen often, and appear in the press. This is a movie, set in the 80s, and really has a powerful effect on you.

To start with, I was trying to figure out why the main character decided to kill himself. It never really says. But the movie concentrates more on what David's close friends feel on his suicide. The film focuses heavily on Keanu Reeves character, Chris. He features in some of the film's most powerful scenes, and although he plays his Ted character, goofy and gangly, he really acts his socks off. He also features in an almost painful crying scene.

There's a terrific song, which unfortunately isn't available. It's worked on throughout the film, but it really comes to light towards the end. It's called "Wishing On Another Lucky Star", performed by J.D. Souther.

This is a very powerful movie, although it didn't leave much of an effect on me. I was expecting it to leave me with something at the end of the movie, but this kinda movie has been done better in recent years - The Virgin Suicides for example.

Movie Review: Touching
Summary: 3 Stars

A story about a group of teens in the 80's who struggle with the suicide of their friend who seems to have it all. Keanu Reeves plays the part of his best friend who goes through a series of emotions ranging from anger to guilt. I believe Keanu's acting in this movie is one of the stepping stones to a career that can claim him the complimentary box office title that he sincerely deserves.
