Movie Review: A Weird but Rewarding Trip Back in Time

I just bought this DVD new from Amazon and love it. Hadn't seen the movie since I was in college in '70 and HAD to see it again. It was worth it. My wife walked in while Jagger is singing Memo from Turner and was transfixed. We have seen the Stones in concert multiple times, but she had never seen Jagger like that. To me, this film is a cult classic, not because of the acting or the story, but because of its total weirdness, its mesmerizing music (particularly Ry Cooder's signature guitar), the presence of Jagger, and its sexual themes (hedonism, threesomes, androgeny). This is a classic of its time; it is predominantly a gangster film, with Jagger playing an indulgent, wealthy, drug-addled rock star holed up in a house in Notting Hill Gate. The gangster aspects are a lot more compelling than the "decadent" scenes with Jagger, Breton and Pallenberg, which might have been fascinating at the time but now seem quite dated and stilted in their acting.
Good for a snapshot of contrasting social worlds in London in the end of the 6os.

I think there may be small flaws in sound sync occasionally, but the film is 38 yrs old. I wasn't aware of a voice dubbing issue until I read the reviews. I wonder if some of the confusion might arise from the midnight movie mental state some of the reviewers may have experienced in the early 70's. The picture quality is excellent and the sound is quite good. Just get the DVD, "shut your bleedin' 'ol", and enjoy the trip.Movie Review: Does Anyone Know the Truth??????

In a 2/18/07 Amazon review of this disc it says there are overdubs, and the soundtrack has been altered......In a subsequent review on 2/20/07, it says there are no overdubs...So, Can Anyone Tell Me the Truth Here?? What Gives???!!!!!
