Movie Reviews of PerfectMovie Review: Great DVD! Summary: 5 Stars
I have written a review about this movie earlier pertaining to the VHS version of this movie. I recently bought the DVD of "Perfect" and I must say it looks great. Very clear, and the sound is much improved from it's VHS counterpart. The only thing I am surprised at is that Columbia didn't present this movie in it's original cinemascope format. It's full-screen. The only time it goes into cinemascope is during the end credits. Basically, the DVD is just the video master transferred onto disc. It still looks better than the VHS version which seemed to be plagued with technical problems. This is from my experience, it took 6 tries at different stores to try and find a copy of this movie that played properly and not jittery or have tracking problems. The DVD looks clear, and the colours are vibrant. I am glad to see this movie offered on DVD because it's a nice slice of mid-80s nostalgia.
Movie Review: Lets Get Physical!! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie when it came out at the 7&27 Drive-in back in 1985. It was great then on the big screen, and I watched it whenever it came on TV. I remember it didn't do well at the box office, but it has always been a personal favourite of mine. I bought the VHS tape 2 yrs ago and have played it to death! I'm glad that Columbia has released it on DVD. Some of the plot drags, but the '80s style aerobic exercises give it the extra energy this movie needed. Speaking of exercise, it's interesting to see all the outdated ways to exercise in this movie. "Perfect" was made during the fitness boom of "going for the burn" & "no pain, no gain". Little did people know that doing those neck rolls like Jaime Lee Curtis does could lead you to a life in traction! All and all, "Perfect" will always be a fave of mine because of it's entertainment value and retro exercise routines...love those legwarmers!!
Movie Review: it's *perfect* Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is really good. First off, I am a fan of John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis, and upon finishing this movie for the first time, I felt that they work well together. Jamie shows off her killer bod in many scenes throughout, and can really motivate you to work out yourself. It's got a good meaning to the storyline. The soundtrack is phenomenal, with upbeat 80's hits, which makes the movie even better. I could relate with Jamie Lee's character, Jessie, because she likes to be perfect, in everything she does. "What's wrong with wanting to be the best that you can be? What's so wrong with wanting to be perfect?" is a famous line of Jessie. It's one of my favorite quotes -- and, really, what IS so wrong with wanting to be the best that you can be? Check it out. Some scenes I would label "iffy" (i.e. the strip tease scene), but overall the movie is great.
Movie Review: Replacing my John Travolta Collection Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is one of the movies I lost in the storm. Jamie Lee Curtis worked her you know what off as an Aerobics Instructor! Glad you guys had one available for me. I don't need to say much about the chin dimpled one...he is awsome!
