Normally, when a movie is touted as being "family-friendly" it's a codeword for "incredibly boring." Penelope, conversely, is both family-friendly and entertaining. It's even extremely charming to boot. Normally, a movie feels strained or too simple when it strives to be viewable by everyone -- trying to please too many people results in pleasing no one -- but this story is complete and perfect.Movie Review: Penelope

Penelope is a great movie! I think that it is a must see for any girl in this day and age. The central message of the story is to be happy with yourself and love yourself. Many thanks to Reese Witherspoon and Christina Ricci for trying to instill this idea and message for girls of all ages. Of course it does not hurt that James Mcavoy is one of the pricipal characters. The story is fun and has a good moral about...well, you will find out when you watch the movie. This movie can also be watched by the whole family as there are no sex scenes and very little violence. This was such a fun movie. The tale is great and the acting is wonderful. James McAvoy is so cute and sweet. I really enjoyed the sets, especially Penelope's bedroom, it is full of magic and imagination. Her wardrobe leaves me drooling as well. This is an entertaining and fun movie and I've been waiting for it to be released on DVD ever since I saw it in the theater.
