Movie Reviews of Penelope

Movie Review: Adorable!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the cutest, most refreshing films I've seen in a long time; I only wish I'd seen it sooner! Fabulous cast, great acting, and fresh air breathed into the age-old story of not judging a book by its cover. Brought to us by the adorable Reese Witherspoon, who makes a fun, off-beat appearance late in the film, this is an entertaining exploration into the shallowness of vanity and the depths of love, which makes you laugh, think, and feel good when it's finished.

Movie Review: I do not want this on DVD...
Summary: 5 Stars

unless it comes out in a director's cut. There is so much more I want to see of the Christina Ricci and James McAvoy characters before she reveals herself to him (no character names for a reason - see the film). I *KNOW* there's got to be more that, for some bizarre reason, got left on the cutting room floor. You still feel it with what's there... but there's more. Admit it! Please! A director's cut and ONLY a director's cut!!! C'mon! Have a heart!!!

Movie Review: Sweet and Magical
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a beautiful modern day fairy tale, and I absolutely loved it! There's a curse in Penelope's family that was cast many many years ago, and her mother has been finding a way to break it. Men have run away from her time and again, until one. Of course, he turns out to not be the one they think he is, and Penelope decides to venture out in the world against her mother's better wishes. It's sweet, funny, romantic, and very uplifting.

Movie Review: Kiss this Pig
Summary: 5 Stars

It is a rather typical boy meets girl, save the girl is plagued with a rather intrusive mother and a spineless father (who later discovers his spine), and, oh yes, a pig nose. Ricci and McAvoy develop rather interesting chemistry and seem to have fun with their roles. Reese Witherspoon's muse/sprite role was well done and she managed to subdue her star power so the leads could get their due.
Fun movie.

Movie Review: Loved it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I found the book form a couple years ago at my library and waited and waited for the movie to come out, having thoroughly enjoyed the book. Never got my hands on it, so took a chance the movie would be as good as the bk and bought it sight unseen. I was not disappointed. If you like fantasy, romance and humor, you can't go wrong with this light-hearted movie. (And the book is well worth it, too.)
