Movie Reviews of Pay It Forward

Movie Review: A teaching moment for youth......
Summary: 5 Stars

Although the theme is rather utopian in theory, if everyone did care enough to try it, it could make a difference, maybe not for the world but why not one small piece at a time. Using this movie for a group of young teens where we are working to decrease bullying in the school, it had impact for the better. Students were touched by the reality of the bullying situations and less than perfect home life scenerios. They related to its family dramas, family traumas and the less than perfect characters. To them, the simpicity of starting with three good acts paid forward was something that was not too unrealistic to strive for. This movie can be used as a teaching tool to improve character in adults as well as children. There is a soft nudity scene of love making that was a bit questionable for this age but its presentation was done tastefully and under the correct circumstance of offering unconditional love behind it. A sleeper movie that gives offers motivation time and time again, to be a better person.

Movie Review: A Magical Film.
Summary: 5 Stars

"Pay It Forward" was absolutely trashed by the critics when it came out. It was labeled as being nothing more than emotionally manipulative Oscar bait. I thought it was an unfair assessment then and I still do today.

The concept driving the story is a simple but amazing one. What would the world be like if we truly tried to better the lives of others? The acting is flawless and I'm not embarrassed to say I was moved to tears by this film.

One criticism of "Pay It Forward" I've seen made time and again over the years is that it is unrealistic. It's as if people are programmed to only accept something fantastic in over-the-top action films or sci-fi. A movie is something that should not only allow you to escape, but maybe even make you feel like being a better person after you see it.

I agree that something like this would probably never happen in the real world. But wouldn't it be wonderful if it did?

Movie Review: A must buy for everyone!
Summary: 5 Stars

A very powerful film brilliantly acted. From the very beginning, Kevin Spacey's montague captures you and for the next 2 hours the film doesn't let go. What begins as a Social Studies assignment becomes a theme for life. For Tevor, [Haley Joel Osment] it's his pyramid for humanity. He suggests each person should do a good deed for 3 people and in turn, they each have to do a good deed for three others, and so on. If only in reality we could accomplish this. Everyone should see this film and practice its' message. I strongly recommend investing in this film. Take it home and watch it with a full house and then pass on its message. Who knows, maybe fiction might become reality. Pay it Forward just might be the film to do it.

A side note; although they tried, not even all the makeup in Hollywood can make Helen Hunt unattractive! She just might be the most beautiful recovering-alcoholic in Hollywood, or anywhere else!

Movie Review: Pay It Forward: Wonderful Film and Idea
Summary: 5 Stars

Pay It Forward is definitely, as others have said, a tear jerker. The plot follows the life of Trevor, played by Haley Joel Osment, as he attempts to change the world one person at a time even when it seems the odds are stacked against him.

The story is one most people will be able to relate to. Victor Frankl argued that man was searching for meaning and what better meaning can there be than changing the world through acts of kindness. We can all appreciate the resistance one is likely to face when one tries to change the world in this way.

Pay It Forward shows us that our impact might be hidden even from ourselves. Though Trevor feels he has helped no one, the opposite could not be more true. This movie might just inspire you to reach out to others with a kind act.

In my opinion, this is one of Osment's strongest films to date. I highly recommend Pay It Forward to all viewers.

Movie Review: Great Movie, Beautiful Message
Summary: 5 Stars

The "Pay it Forward" message in this film is what makes it beautiful.

The cast in this movie fit perfectly into their roles. Helen Hunt did a good job of portraying the yucky, drunk, fake-blonde mother. Kevin Spacey did an excellent job as Mr. Simonet. Haley Joel Osment did an outstanding, touching job as Trevor. Yes, as many have said, he does play his roles seriously. However, that is what this movie calls for, and he's great at it.

I must say that I enjoyed this movie until the last 3 minutes of it, during which I was in tears...the message of the film is that the world could be a wonderful place if everybody would "Pay it Forward", but that's not reality, not everybody is willing to "Pay it Forward". But, Trevor stated that by "Paying it Forward" you can "change a person", so they will someday "Pay it Forward".

Do the world a favor, don't be afraid, Pay it Forward, it could work.
