Movie Reviews of Paula Abdul's Get Up and Dance!Movie Review: Not for advanced users Summary: 2 StarsThis would probably be a great workout for beginners and intermediates. If you are advanced like me though it's just too easy. The dance steps are fun to do, but I just don't break a sweat or get my heartrate up at all
Movie Review: What a Workout! Summary: 4 StarsI've been working out to Paula Abdul's Get Up and Dance! video for over three years now. I never get bored with the steps and the routine has yet to become too easy. It still gets my heart rate up and is still providing me with toned muscles. I must admit, the music is out-dated and the clothes make me wince, but when it comes down to it, I'm looking forward to another three years of this tape. You really will see results! It may take a little while for you to master all the dance steps, but once you do you really get into it, and even start adding your own little bit of style to the routine. Good luck!
Movie Review: fun effective workout, gotta get the hang of it Summary: 4 StarsI was so excited to get this video and have really enjoyed adding it to my cycle of videos. Paula has energy and a fun attitude that rubs off and gets you moving. My complaints: I was hoping that the workout would actually be put to her music, only the warm-up and cool-down are done with Paula music otherwise it's just energized aerobics score; one has to watch a few times to get the steps down, the camera man was a better music video shooter then an aerobics cameraman; He focuses on her face and the girl in the window more than the footwork which is tricky. But on the up side the footwork doesn't get boring after doing it over and over.
Movie Review: Challenging, intense and 90's tack... Summary: 5 StarsSmacks a little of 80's, occasionally somewhat m.c hammer, but I think that has more to do with paula's dress sense than with the dance routines. Intense, requiring patient practice, it's a must-video if you want to add springy limberness and good-coordination to your fitness goals. I used to do a lot of Jane Fonda's Lean Routine (she puts together programs like no other), which is a little dancy, equally intense but easier to follow with better build up to dancy aerobic routines. That experience helped me get into Paula Abdul's workout without too much difficulty. Three separate three-step dance routines that are combined at the end into a single 9-step routine, followed by a short outta-the-blue ordinary-chaps' dance performed by some YMCA guys; if you cannot follow paula, you can definitely follow these guys. Then you have a cool down section that also includes abwork. Bottomline, if you are looking for a sweaty pop dance routine, get Abdul. If you want merely intense dancy aerobics, get Jane Fonda's Lean routine, but you gotta not mind her sparkly 80's fashion.
Movie Review: Good and effective workout, but not as fun... Summary: 3 StarsAlright, I LOVE to dance especially street hip-hop, salsa, and merengue but I didn't feel the good vibe from this DVD. It felt kind of like military, and too technical. I mean, the girl can dance, and you will sweat from doing the moves, but I don't think it's as fun as some of the other dance tapes /DVD's that I have ordered. If you want to have a really good time, easily catch on to the moves, but effectively sweat a storm by the end of the tape, get "The Grind Workout Hip-Hop Aerobics". I just bought another tape just recently, because the one I had is worn out! This is a great tape, and trust me you will have fun!!
