Movie Reviews of Paris, Texas

Movie Review: Paris, Texas. P R O F O U N D, B R I L L I A N T & S U P E R B.
Summary: 5 Stars

Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski are two of my very favourite actors; there are few who are as earthy and 'real' as they. As always, their acting is unparalled, which I think is due to the fact that they are earthy and real.

In this movie you will be taken on a journey unlike any other and one which I have experienced personally in very similar circumstances so I may be a little bias but only a tad, the movie is excellent in its' own right.

This movie is not for every one (there are many dead heads out there) but in any case it deseves 5 stars for it's brilliance and uniqueness. It is refreshing to see 'something different' and not the usual same ol'. This is truly a work of art. If you know excellence when you see it, you MUST SEE this movie.

Every one else has given you the story line, I just want to tell you just how brilliant it is. I LOVE THIS MOVIE. The sound track is also brilliant and fitting. I own both: dvd movie and the soundtrack.

A movie you must see before you die.

Love from me in Melbourne.

Movie Review: one of cinema's great masterpieces
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently watched Wim Wender's masterpiece Paris, Texas for the first time and like so many other of his films, this film bottles the soul and emotion in such a way as to make it painful. The long takes, mirror shots, and images of the American southwest work to create the feeling of disharmony that seems to impede Travis (Harry Stanton) from being able to understand himself and his role as a father in society. As I watched this I could not believe that Wender's could capture so much of the American spirit of the love of the land, especially wide open spaces, the Western mythos, and the true tragedy of this film and perhaps the nation, the broken home.
I found myself with tears in my eyes at the end as we watch Travis drive away after reuniting his wife and son. For those who love cinema and appreciate it as an art form, this film is a can't miss.

Movie Review: ranks one of the greatest film ever
Summary: 5 Stars

I just want to be honest with what I've saw, the picture is excellent, the soundtrack is great, the slide guitar fits so well in every scene, the actors did a superb job and what else can I say, I haven't seen a movie yet this good and has an excellent cinematography. The long conversation between Travis(Stanton) and Jane(Kinski)is difinitely the best and very memorable that until now, no matter where I go it lingers on my mind just that scene alone, its very touching that Ive tried so hard not to cry, but tears just roll down, kinski's role here is short but it seems to me that her presence seems to be in the whole movie. Its difinitely the best road movie ever, that I was so surprise that it wasn't even nominated for an Oscar but thank God it won the grand prize in the Cannes Film Festival coz it deserves more than that.

Movie Review: DVD - widescreen version
Summary: 5 Stars

Wim Wenders' remarkable film is preserved in a wonderful widescreen format. Special features include commentary from Wenders, deleted scenes, and a short film depicting the actors making an entry into Cannes, where the film won top honors in the early 80s. Harry Dean Stanton's Travis wanders on foot through southern Texas and Mexico for four years following a devastating breakup with his wife Jane. Jane, at one time a wild spirit who sought a life of adventure, leaves their son, Hunter, with Travis' brother and sister-in-law. The film depicts Travis' return from his emotional abyss and his attempts to reunite his family. This is a story of guilt, remorse, and loneliness, which confronts honestly the complexities facing a shattered family.

Movie Review: Kinski is sexy and this movie is mesmerizing
Summary: 5 Stars

Harry Dean Stanton (She's So Lovely, Sonny) is perfect as Travis, the man who has been missing for years. Nastassja Kinski (Cat People, Rip It Off), sexy as ever plays Stanton's wife. stanton returns from a perfornal journey after years long gone as I said and he returns home but his wife is somewhere else and she left their daughter behind. So Stanton tracks her down to bring her, her daughter. Serious good movie with Stanton giving 100% of his performance and Kinski does a damn good job as well as the fragile mother who went down the wrong path with the wrong kind of job. There's a lot to be said about a movie so good as this. The last 25-30 minutes are the movies best. Also starring Dean Stockwell (Tv's Quantom Leap, Air Force One)
