Three stars is a generous rating for this collection of short films, given that most of them were mediocre at best, but since everything is relative, the truly AWFUL ones made the so-so ones seem good. By the time I got to the vampire segment (the biggest stinker of the bunch), I had the distinct feeling that most of the participants in this project don't respect their audience very much. Rather, they think we're an indiscriminate bunch of philistines and ADD sufferers. I began to feel as though I was seated next to an antsy channel-surfer who had bogarted the remote, and viewing the DVD extras just enhanced this feeling.
My favorite segment was of the Postal worker from CO visiting Paris and narrating her experience in miserably accented French. This had a hokey (but in a good way) charm to it, in the manner of a sketch from "A Prairie Home Companion". It made me laugh aloud, but since it's near the end I had to slog through a lot of less-than-stellar material to get there.
I had hoped to be able to recommend this movie to friends and acquaintances with a fondness for the city of Paris; but alas, I can only tell them to proceed with caution.

I saw this movie before, during, and after I lived abroad in Paris for two months, and I think it captures the magic of the city beautifully. There are a couple of weird shorts, but overall definately worth the money. Wonderful film. :-) Movie Review: I fell in love all over again!

I love, love, love this collection of short films! It's refreshing to see Paris captured in its true light. Paris IS a place you can fall in love in, but more so, you really do fall in love with it. Paris has a soul, it's the life it breaths, the people it shelters, the character in its architecture, the color of its art. It's just the feeling you have when you are there.
I highly recommend this film and recommend watching it with others. Part of the fun is sharing thoughts and discussing the films afterward. Everyone has their favorite.
The Denverite was such a special piece for me, because it took place EXACTLY where I fell in love with Paris. District 14, my mom and I got lost after visiting the Catacombs and stumbled along this fantastic park. There was just something about it. The day was crisp, birds lined up along the water, residents sat on benches. It was a very calming place, and I'm sure the concept came from a day like mine in the same park. When the film showed the gates to the park, a smile drew across my face, knowing exactly what was going to happen based on my experience.

If you have been to Paris, this film will trigger wonderful memories, and if you haven't, it will fuel your desire to go. The various mini-films are directed by, and star, an interesting global cross-section of talent. Steve Buscemi is perfectly cast as the hapless tourist who becomes the victim of a jealous boyfriend, Catalina Sandino Moreno breaks your heart as the young mother who leaves behind her own baby every morning in order to work as a nanny for a wealthy family. The majority of the episodes, set in different neighbourhoods of Paris, succeed on all levels, there are a couple of weak ones, but overall, this meditation on love, in all of its forms, is a real joy to watch.
