Movie Reviews of Paris, Je T'Aime (Paris, I Love You)Movie Review: paris jet'aime Summary: 5 StarsWow. As Phil Donohue would say what's not to love? Each time I watch PJT I find a different segment I like.
Movie Review: The Title Says It All Summary: 5 StarsWhen I saw Paris, Je t'Aime earlier this year, I would have rated it four stars. Now it gets five because I find myself revisiting one or more of the eighteen short tales mentally almost every day. With old lovers, new lovers, quarrelsome lovers and never lovers, the short films capture the city, eighteen tales in eighteen different and living arrondisements. Often this is not the Paris of either romance or picture postcards. but that's precisely why it is all the more reason to realize, as the spinster Denver mail carrier does in the fitting, triumphant final short, that just as one loves Paris, the city loves those who live in and visit it. Get your popcorn during the ridiculous Elijah Wood vampire film, but wallow in almost everything else. If in these times of weak dollar, you can't afford an air ticket, Paris, Je t'Aime will stand in very well for the real thing.
Movie Review: Lazy and incoherent mess Summary: 1 StarsWhat a disappointment. The world's most distinguished city represented in 18 vignettes that lack even the semblance of a script. Steve Buscemi could've been assaulted on the DC Metro for all the 'effort" that the Coen Brothers put into writing this vignette for the Paris Metro. Bob Hoskins and Ben Gazzara were scripted and acted like zombie extras from "Shaun of the Dead". Why precisely was Gerard Depardieu talking about crabs on a dinner menu when Ben Gazzara was just having a drink? NO continuity QC?
An incoherent, disgraceful mess - worse than Altman's pretentious and equally lazy "Pret a Porter". Does nothing to eulogize Paris - the acting and the sense of Paris in "Ratatouille" were far superior - as, in fact, was Remy's acting. Perhaps actors and directors are lulled into a sense that with Paris as a background, there's no need to practice their trade. A waste of time and money.
Movie Review: LOVED IT!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis is one of the best films that I have seen in a long while. Every one of the vignettes were great! My favorite one has to be the one directed by the Coen Bros. Steve Buscemi was great in his small, almost dialogue free role. Everyone needs to see it! This film made me want to go and visit Paris.
Movie Review: An Adorable Quilt of a Film Summary: 4 StarsAn adorable quilt of a film -- no patch of the narrative is like another, yet they're all included with the best of intentions. Certainly, the level of execution is as wide ranging as the concept of romance in Paris, but it was refreshing not to have to commit to a story for more than 5 minutes. (7/10)
