Movie Review: A Brilliant Psychological Thrill Ride
Summary: 5 Stars
To begin, Paranoia Agent stands above almost all other anime in the psychological genre. The story focuses on an overly stressed character designer who is suddenly attacked one night by a mysterious figure that resembles an elementary student on golden rollerblades who wields a bent golden bat. That figure, soon named Lil'Slugger (or Shonen Bat)becomes a national sensation, creating gossip and paranoia throughout the region. When two detectives attempt to solve the case, they soon discover that not everything is as it seems when it comes to Lil'Slugger.
This series is currently in second place on my top ten list of favorite anime of all time. I'm usually into the psychological genre, and I am fully aware that this series is not for everyone, nor will everyone who watch it enjoy it, but to those who don't mind, and even like, the kind of anime that messes with your mind, then this is one of the best you'll ever see. The writting is superb, and the animation is one of the best in anime. As an added bonus, this series is one of the few anime whose english dub doesn't suck. In fact, I actually prefer the english dub, a rare occurence for me.
Now then, the packaging was well done. Everything from audio, to scene selection worked just fine. I'm one of those who doesn't really care about the extras, but to those of you who do you'll probably be better off getting the individual dvds, as the extras are limited in this collection.
Overall, this is a great buy. If you're a fan of Paranoia Agent, buy this collection. You won't be sorry.
