Movie Review: My favorite Johnnie To film
Summary: 5 Stars
This is just a terrific movie, highly entertaining with a good shootout. The Internal Affairs trilogy movies are great but PTU is my favorite because:
1. Simon Yam gets to play a cop for once (In real life, his handsome brother is HK police);
2. Simon Yam's character hates dumb looking tattoos especially on scumbags;
3. The rookie cop chose "Orderly" as his English name;
4. Maggie Shiu's lovely move in the coffee shop;
5. I remember the briney smell of the empty back streets of the locale; and
6. the police are wearing their old Royal HK uniforms.
This is the kind of movie that has so much to be imitated but its charm is impossible to copy. It's just there, organic to the authentic HK elements of the film.
