Movie Review: EDGE OF YOUR SEAT!!!
Summary: 5 Stars
Denzel Washington stars in this suspense thriller as Chief Matt Whitlock in the small Florida town of Banyan Key. With a divorce pending from his wife, Whitlock begins an affair with a married woman; but when she turns up dead, Whitlock realizes that he would be the number one suspect. What follows is a series of desperate attempts by the Chief to cover up any and all involvement with the deceased--and it certainly doesn't help matters that the homicide investigation is being run by his soon-to-be ex-wife--who has recently been promoted to detective.Stellar performances are delivered by Sanaa Lathan--who plays the married woman with whom the Chief is having an affair--and Eva Mendes, who plays Whitlock's wife. A fair amount of humor is injected into this intriguing suspense drama by the town's Medical Examiner, played by John Billingsley, who's unwaivering loyalty to the Chief is key throughout. Dean Cain also performs well as the "bad guy" husband of Sanaa Lathan.....
A series of plot twists and turns--many unexpected--will leave audiences everywhere holding their breath. Denzel Washington fans won't be disappointed, as, reminiscent of a postal carrier, he "always delivers."

Movie Review: Washington Extends His Charismatic Brand

Actor Mel Jackson reportedly said that Denzel Washington's movies are a composite of the same character. From a cursory view, it might have seemed that Jackson was slighting Washington's acting ability. But, he wasn't! In "Out of Time" the Denzel Washington brand is in full effect. Washington's coolness, calculating and charisma jump off the screen. "Out of Time" is full of riveting, twists, intrigue and farfetched encounters. Most importantly, it's a fun movie that you never get tired of watching again and again. Why?
"Out of time' has a spiraling out of control plot with beautiful cunning women and a handsome, but flawed, engaging leading man. It's the complexity of human nature gone awry. It's what happens when you mix love, friendship and greed in the same pot and wait for it to react. It's explosive.

Movie Review: Doubly Excellent. A thrill from start to finish

When I got this movie, I was really looking for MAN OF FIRE, but made a mistake with a very happy ending, which is that I got to see TWO excellent movies, rather than just one.
I absolutely LOVED this film in which there was plenty of thrilling action accompanying fine acting and a good story.
More than most contemporary works, this movie IS what it claims to be, and MORE. An aptly told story with shooting and stuff blowing up, all for some very good reasons. I was glad to see Denzel Washington doing something so far removed from his many other roles.
Keeping in mind all DW's previous roles, which are all very highb row, this film and "MOF" make the very well-timed transitional roles between everything else and TRAINING DAY, which was just totally over the top, in a good way! Perhaps no other actor's catalogue shows such a logical and visible depth and growth and direction.
You MUST SEE this movie. Remember, the later film, Man On Fire, is also extremely good.
Movie Review: I loved it!!!!

This movie was great!!!!! I prefer intrigue instead of just blowing things up inexplicably. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat!!! Most movies today spend so little time setting up the plot and the characters....something explodes during the opening credits and they're off. This movie was just like a great roller coaster.....starts off slow and lets you get at good look at the amusement park then WHAM!!!! Lots of dips, turns and surprises. If you've watched every movie ever made, I'm sure you can find something old/cliche' in this movie. I've watched a lot of movies and found this to be one of the best!!! I'm glad I have it on DVD as part of my personal collection. And even though the element of surprise is gone, I suspect I'll still enjoy watching it again because of the great cast/scenery. This wasn't the case with "The 6th Sense".Movie Review: An enjoyable ride

This is one fine thriller. I'm a big fan of films that keep you at the edge of your seat for most of their way and OUT OF TIME is in exactly that genre of filmmaking. It starts off slow, gives you a little bit of background on the main players, a hint or two about what might happen, some talk about an insurance policy, a husband who beats his wife, extra-curricular marital activities...and then, drops a bomb on us and the lead character, who spends the rest of the time trying to remain one step ahead of Johnny Law.I don't think anyone is going to use the word "original" to describe this film's plot, but heck, sometimes even the most basic formula works for thrillers as long as you give the audience characters to care about, a touch of mystery, suspense and hotties
