Movie Reviews of Out of AfricaMovie Review: All Time Favorite Movie Summary: 5 Stars
I have loved this movie since it was released. I have it on VCR Tape and now as a DVD. I can watch it over and over and never tire of the story. Meryl Streep has to be the most incredible actress, her performance is stunning.
Robert Redford is excellent in this film as well. The scenery and imagery are breathtaking.
I also have the score to this film and listen to it all the time. The music is like another character in the film. It adds dimension and energy to every scene.
I cannot recommend a film more highly than Out of Africa!

Movie Review: Out of Africa Summary: 5 Stars
"Out of Africa" must be one of the most poignant and intensely passionate films
ever made - Meryl Streep and Robert Redford are at the top of their careers and
give moving performances, portraying star-crossed soul-mates against the backdrop
of lush, safari-days Africa. The music and cinematography are equally brilliant;
the haunting theme of the movie is especially captivating and sets the mood for a
film that has become a classic in the same class as "Gone With The Wind".

Movie Review: Epic Summary: 5 Stars
Even though I did not see the purchased copy, I bought this movie to have in my library. This is a well known epic (unlike the Scent of a Woman) with power, big stars, beautiful scenery, and a great musical score. Meryl Streep is superb portraying this great woman (based on a true story) and Robert Redford is suave and seducing in his portrayal of the lover. This movie has everything: infidelity, war, disease, racism, imperialism, political statements, discrimination, intelligence, beauty, well I can go on, and on. One of the best movie ever made.
Movie Review: Loved it Then & Now-Recommend Dinesen's Books Summary: 5 Stars
I'm currently taking some classes on Africa, & the teacher showed a clip from this film to illustrate a point which led to me buying and watching it again. Meryl Streep is great and the score is wonderful, but the "star" of the movie is Africa - its landscapes and wildlife. I'd encourage anyone not only to read Dinesen, but to learn more about Africa. (which, by the way, is four times the size of the U.S.,made up of 56 countries and has an amazing history that most of us were never exposed to in school)
