Movie Reviews of OscarMovie Review: Picture This Summary: 5 Stars
1931 New York City.....deep in the heart of not only Prohibition but the great depression as well. "Spats" Provolone (Sylvester Stallone) promises his dying father (Kirk Douglas) that he will leave his life as a gangster and become an honest man. And that's where the fun starts! It's good clean fun with a very talented cast, inluding Stallone, Marisa Tomei, Yvonne DeCarlo, Don Ameche and Kirk Douglas.
Movie Review: Keeps you laughing Summary: 5 Stars
I'll admit, I've loaned my copy to people who just don't seem to "get it", but I'm happy to see by the multitude of reviews that I am not mistaken - this movie is really funny! With an overtone of a "who's on first routine" and no shortage of witty one-liners it is a great movie with a wonderful cast! You will want to pay attention - you don't want to miss a line or you may miss a great joke later.
Movie Review: Favorite Stallone Movie Summary: 5 Stars
This shows how wrong the viewing public is by letting this movie bomb in the theaters. I loved it from the first time I saw it. It was such a departure from Stallone's usual violent filled movies. The entire cast did a great job and even loved the cameo part with Kirk Douglas at the beginning of the movie. I would highly recommend this movie and you won't get a better price for it anywhere.
Movie Review: There Are No Small Roles, Just Small Actors Summary: 5 Stars
Despite the fact that Tim Curry's role as Dr. Thorton Poole was small, it was still done to perfection. It's most unusual that we see Tim playing a naive, clean cut role such as this one, and it's a rare delicacy. I recommend you watch this movie, not just for Tim's performance but for the entire cast, every actor and actress in this movie did an outstanding job!
Movie Review: entertainment Summary: 5 Stars
For pure entertainment value, I love this movie. It's nice to see the hardcore action guys not take themselves so serious and have a little fun. Although my favorite character in the movie is Tim Curry's elocutionist. (he was a great cardinal in 3Ms, too). The best part? This is a movie my kids can watch and get as much enjoyment as I do. Wonderful that it's on DVD!!!
