Movie Reviews of One to Another

Movie Review: Excellent Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent, Excellent movie. I believe this is my first five stars for a French gay movie, even though I have not rated every French movie I have seen. This movie is a Strand Release, a tragic story, but a smart account of true events that happened in France. It is a mystery, with a very profound twist at the end.

The plot surrounds five teenagers, Pierre, Lucie, Sebastien, Baptiste, and Nicolas, who grew up together in some small town in the country side of France. These kids are like glued together, doing just about everything together. Lucie has slept with all the boys except for her brother Pierre. Pierre is bisexual, but mostly inclining toward gay. Baptiste and Sebastien are straight. Nicolas is the other gay kid who sleeps with Pierre but has issues with his sexuality. It is refreshing how these kids have no hang ups being around each naked, especially the boys. In other countries that will be considered uncomfortable, even though boys and athletes have been doing in locker rooms and showers for centuries.

Pierre is found dead in a field near their town and Lucie goes on a quest to find her brother's murder stopping at nothing. There is a lot flashbacks throughout the movie of Pierre doing things with his sister and all of his friends. I hate these types of movies as the flashbacks are very distracting, and you have to pay close attention to the movie. But on this movie I make an exception.

The movie progresses where Lucie befriends a cop in the case so that he can open it again. She sleeps with him for his cooperation. It is also interesting that Lucie is the promiscuous one, sleeping with just about everybody. I supposed that when you have been around with four cute healthy boys, you are shared, and you can easily become the slut. There is a six boy who has psyche power and is a peeping Tom, always watching the other five having sex. This character becomes close with Lucie after Pierre is murdered, she always asking him for help using his psyche power. She obviously tries to seduce him too for his help, but he does not do it. Lucille becomes pregnant at the end of the movie with Sebastien's baby.

The movie ends with the most unlikable murderers. Sebastien and Nicolas murdered Pierre while Baptiste watches doing nothing. There are some hints throughout the movie where the boys are feeling uncomfortable and guilty, especially in Pierre's cremation scenes. You realize that after the truth is discovered.

Again, not everybody will find this movie as well as I did. Yes, there are the candy eyes, those cute teenage boys, which could be appealing to the audience. I tend to yearn for my teenage years, ones that I did not have. But what I find the most fascinating, challenging, and puzzling, is not the beauty of these kids, but the reason why these boys kill their own buddy. Was it Nicolas insecurity, his jealousy that other men were sharing Pierre. But how did he managed to convince the other boy to commit the crime, while the other watches. How could you possibly do that to someone you shared everything with (or yes there were in a band together becoming successful.) By the way Pierre was helping out the band financially by selling his body as a hustler. The story is what I love, the mystery.

Sebastien and Nicolas are sentenced to 18 years of prison, Baptiste 5.
