Movie Review: Menage A Many
Summary: 5 Stars
The true story of five young people living in the French countryside. The story centers on Pierre (Arthur Dupont) and his sister Lucie (Lizzie Brochere). Pierre and Lucie not only enjoy sex with each other but draw their friends into their erotic world, often bedding the lover of the other. Life is pretty good until Pierre goes missing and Lucie falls apart.
This is a French film that will appeal to Americans who find French films lacking denouement. Strangely enough, even though there is a lot of flesh in this film, it didn't feel all that sexual due to the characters casual sexual attitudes. Gorgeously filmed. Highly recommended.
By sheer coincidence, I've watched six films in a row that deal with incest. The Good Wife (wife sleeps with brother-in-law), Damage (sibling sex and sex with sons girlfriend), Murmur of the Heart - Criterion Collection (mom has sex with her son), Savage Grace(mom has sex with her gay son) Somersault (Girl sleeps with mom's boyfriend. Incest-y enough.) One To Another, Somersault and Damage were the best of this odd cinematic journey.
Summary of One to Another
At once both a sexual thriller and a detective story, ONE TO ANOTHER unfolds as Lucie and Pierre, 20-year-old brother and sister, share an intimate relationship with each other and their group of friends. Pierre is a magnet for the band of youths, but he himself is unstable and narcissistic. One day Pierre is found savagely murdered. As the police investigation drags on, Lucie, aided by her friends, decides to find out who killed her brother.
