Movie Reviews of One Night with the KingMovie Review: A Great Love Story Summary: 5 Stars
We awaited the release of this film to dvd with much anticipation, and WE WERE NOT DISAPOINTED.
Some reviewers have complained about the sound quality, which we did not notice because we watch with subtitles on or use our surround sound, and found IT DID NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE STORY QUALITY.
Some have said that Ester's costumes looked more East Indian than Persian (I thought only the pink one looked a little out of place). After some online research, Persian and E. Indian costumes are very similiar. And one needs to remember that alot of the jewels they had were from the spoils of war from other regions.
Some didn't like the actor used for the king, WE LIKE HIM. He brought an authentic broodiness of a man torn between the ways of his ruling father before him and his dream to rule peacefully.
Some were disturbed by the creative liberties that were taken, we found that NONE OF THEM took away from the core truth of the biblical story but enriched it. It would have been nice to see Haman hang. We liked the intrigue introduced by one peace of jewelry, it was a nice addition to the story.
My daughters and I LOVED the sweeping love story between Ester and Xerxes, it was tastefully and wonderfully done without all the "skin" and sex used in today's movies. The cinemaphotography was exceptional.
It was real treat to see classic actors Omar Sherrif, Peter O'Toole, John Noble, and John Rys-Davies together in this film.
I bought this dvd without seeing it first in the theater and I AM GLAD WE DID.
Movie Review: How Will You Find Your Destiny? Summary: 5 Stars
With lush cinematography and with a fantastic score, One Night With the King will leave you mesmerized. Based off the book "Hadassah" by authors Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olson, the movie has an all star cast with Tiffany Dupont as Hadassah and later as Esther, the incredibly handsome Luke Goss as King Xerxes, John Rhys-Davies as Mordecai, and brief apperances by Omar Sharif and in my opinion we see to little of the wonderful Peter O'Toole.
King Xerxes after dismissing his first wife is pressed by the other princes of his provinces to pick another bride to hold the kingdom together while he is off warring against the Greeks. It doesn't take long for the king to realize that Esther who is jewish but is hiding it, not only has the will to do what she wants, but she also has the power over his heart. After they marry things start to slowly fall apart, mainly by the man Haman the Agagite. Soon the state decrees that all Jews should be put to death so King Xerxes will have enough gold to cover the cost of the war with the Greeks, which soon leaves Esther's life in danger. Defying the warnings of others, Esther struggles to save her people even though it may end up costing her her life. Will Esther struggles be in vain, or will King Xerxes realize the error of his decision and does he have the courage and the faith to believe in his wife as she struggles to find out just how far she will go to fullfill her destiny.
Movie Review: The rise of a Jew Summary: 5 Stars
As a pre-teen (practically) biblical stuff and (bible stuff) topics and all that stuff seem very, very confusing. My type of movies usually is funny, comedy, or horror (but most definitely NOT ROMANTIC!!!!) So when I saw the movie ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING I was astonished by how much it interested me and how it grabbed my attention right away.
This film is filled with adventure, sorrow, faith, trust, and many, many more important values of life. For me the theme in this movie (the way I interpreted) was "whatever you go through (whether it's painful or something joyful) there's always reason that you go through it during your life. Whether it will benefit you in your life or, make you stronger during your life or, just something that will increase your faith whatever just knows that surly it will benefit you sooner or later in life."
I thought that this movie was beyond, beyond amazing. If I could give it a trillion stars (* those things just in case you didn't know) I would. Seriously, I think that everyone should see this movie at least one time because it gives you a great view of how trusting God and putting all your faith I God will help you triumph in the end. Also with the special effects it shows the whole sword fighting killing stuff also.
But I really think once you see it you'd really think it's awesome also. (If you don't your coo-coo times 100!!!!!!!)

Movie Review: In support of.... Summary: 5 Stars
I don't go to the movies to critique the production; figure out how much money did or did not get invested; analyze the lighting, language, use of reasearch or technology. I want to see something NOT based on sex, foul language, grotesque or unnecesary violence and depravity or anything like it. I DO want something based on truth; heartwarming; that makes me laugh or basically anything that I can walk away from not feeling dirty, depressed, angry or robbed. ENTERTAINMENT is not entertaining like that.
This movie may not have the most perfect biblical dialogue or delve the depths of historical truth (Like Passion of the Christ) but it was not presented as that type of work. It is based on a book, "Hadassah" by Tommy Tenney, that was based on the Book of Esther in the Bible. The language is more contemporary, but that allows any viewer to be able to follow and potentially become absorbed with the story. Good and Truth triumph over evil, which is the "End of the story" in the Bible and it is what everyone truly hopes for - perhaps at the movies and always in life.
I recommend this movie to everyone, we can all use more "entertainment" like this. Perhaps someone might seek to emulate some of what is reflected in this movie instead of the violence depicted in so many others.
