Movie Reviews of On the Beach

Movie Review: A Frightening, yet powerful movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This is movie that I will probably never forget. It's very haunting images of a completely deserted San Francisco and it's effective use of music are just a couple of things that make it a really powerful film. I don't think I will ever again hear "Waltzing Matilda" and not think about this movie. And at the end there is the very sad salvation army type band playing a mournful "Onward Christian Soldiers." There is a sense of hopelessness and despair that make this film quite disturbing. However I found that it punctuated to me anew how important my faith is to me.

Movie Review: ON THE BEACH
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the all time classics in every respect. Some consider the message anti-war. It's not really. Instead, Shute's making a statement of the human condition. While we may feel like spectators as the cloud of radioactive air relentlessly closes in on Australia, we're not really. Our demise is just as certain and relentless as the characters in on the beach. There is still time for us, but it grows shorter daily. That's the Shute's message and it's a powerful context with which to guage and direct our daily activities. Great soundtrack too. Never colorize this one.

Movie Review: Mandatory viewing for the population of the Earth
Summary: 5 Stars

Everyone on the planet should see this movie just to see how fragile the human race is and how serious nuclear weapons are. In it's day, it was a very scary movie, but I'm afraid that this classic may not get the attention of the young people of the world ... not enough visual effects or action. The message portrayed by true academy class actors and actresses is timeless ... the underlying basis, by an Australian scientist, is accurate. Watch it now since the world you save is yours.

Movie Review: Waltzing Matilda the world of the roaches
Summary: 5 Stars

Atomic death has spread throughout the world, someone finally pushed the button. It hardly matters who.Australia is the only place on earth left intact, but it awaits it's own death.Just a matter of time. What do people do awaiting their own death sentence?Cry and whine, perhaps drive in car races,go about their days like nothing will happen?Do you pretend your loved ones who were surely doomed still live?A cheerful picnic.Refrains of Waltzing Matilda. The lord of death watches.

Movie Review: One of the best post-nuclear war movies.
Summary: 5 Stars

A truly haunting tale of survivors of a nuclear war trying to cope with immanent death. With excellent performances by all especially Gregory Peck this movie will not disappoint you.

It begs the question for all of us; what would we do? How would we cope in that sitation.

Overall-You thing is for sure you will never listen to "Waltzing Matilda" quite the same way again.

There is still time... brother
