Movie Review: A Wonderful Musical Summary: 5 Stars
My mom bought this movie on VHS,(it is one of her all time favorite movies) for me when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it. I thought my daughter would also love it, but she is still a little young at three years to enjoy it fully. I was a little surprised to find subtitles in English for an English speaking movie, but found them to be quite useful for understanding some of the "cockney" English accents. This movie is a classic and the music is wonderful, especially the songs "Who Will Buy"(this beautiful morning) and "As Long As He Needs Me". I would highly recommend this movie, even if you do not care for musicals in general, it is a wonderful story and the acting is superb. Lots of good clean family fun.
Movie Review: "You've Got To Pick A Pocket Or Two" Summary: 5 Stars
The '68 film `Oliver' is an amazingly entertaining musical adaptation of Charles Dickens classic `Oliver Twist'. I really cannot think of a single flaw in this production that is worthy of mentioning. The storyline, characterizations, production values and musical numbers are sheer perfection with superb performances delivered by Ron Moody (Fagin), Jack Wild (Artful Dodger) and little Mark Lester (Oliver Twist) just to name a few.
As always, the ultimate litmus test of any great film is the repeatability factor. Does it continue to entertain its audience viewing after viewing? In the case of 'Oliver' the answer is a resounding YES!

i LOVE this movie we currently rented this i think its so cute! especially the songs - consider yourself& id do anything for you i watch everyday & hopes it comes on pbs soon maybe for a pledge this year its came on in previous years! i really really like it.and besides oliver! is the perfect show to be aired on pbs - so much good music and lots of children in it id do anything to say more but i have to run bye-bye oh & p.s. i do admit i do love the dodgers character so long! thats all i wanted to share please pbs show this for your winter pledge good-bye Review: Fine film due to excellent adult performances Summary: 5 Stars
I come back to this film several times. I find it noteworthy for several reasons. The most important of which are the acting talents of the two male leads, Ron Moody and Oliver Reed. Both gentlemen add the right spark of chemistry to this dark Dickensian tale of bad vs. good. I love the voice of Shani Wallis as well as her performance. The film tends to be a bit slow at times -- I do not suggest that it needed editing, just moving along. The musical numbers are breathtaking. This picture deserved the Oscar, and Onna White's choreography is inspired and fun!
Catch it.
