Movie Reviews of Ocean's Twelve

Movie Review: A Great Sequal for cinepiles and those who pay attention to Ocean's 11
Summary: 5 Stars

Ocean's 12 is truly a great sequal. Those who did not like this film are only casual fans of Ocean's 11 and of cinema in general. I can understand they may have trouble with this film because their lack of film knowledge and their attention to the original may be lacking. This was so intelligent and funny, and the continuity of Ocean's 11 is carried through so well (things refered to in the first film are brought to fruition in this sequal...Linus's parents, Rule #1, etc...) There are so many inside jokes and references for film lovers as well (esp. the Miller's Crossing discussion and a certian actor revealed at the end, and the Bruce Willis/Hudson Hawk connection, plus others). Sure sometimes one has to suspend disbelief, but hell, this is a fictional movie, not a biopic! Also the style and music of the film is that of a great european 60's - 70's heist flick (to fit in with the theme). I also love that each character has an idiosynchrasy of thier own (most carried over from the last film, some comedic cliches). The idea of a rival thief is also quite novel, funny, and adds a good twist. It is sad that people see this as a poor sequal, obviously they just do not pay attention to the little details, those things that make films truly great. If you really allow yourself to think of all the meta-references and continuities, then you may actually see how rich this film really is! Please, watch it again...

Movie Review: fun caper with cool European setting
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie was fun to watch: hilarious dialogue, a nice twist in the plot, a terrific soundtrack, and interesting characters- even the villain was amusing. It is nothing like Ocean's Eleven or Ocean's Thirteen, maybe because of the European setting, which added to its charm: Las Vegas is not an attractive city, but Paris, Amsterdam and Rome are beautiful. It hearkens back to those classic old movies where the scenery and the actors are attractive, and the dialogue is quick and witty. Catherine Zeta-Jones character and acting really makes the movie, and I have not usually been a fan of hers. The way the actors play off each other, and the natural dialogue make it fun to watch- you really care about what happens to these people. They are fun. From Yen's speaking Chinese (which the characters understand) to the way Clooney is "only fifty from the neck up", to Bernie Mac's nail salon fetish. This is a great choice for people who enjoy light-hearted heist movies set in Europe. I won't give away the ending except to say you'll want to see it again to piece it all together and figure it out- but that is half the fun! So make an espresso and order up some Tiramisu and enjoy yourself!

Movie Review: Good film
Summary: 5 Stars

Other than a few awkward moments this was a good film. not as good as Ocean's 11 but not bad at all. Unlike the first, Ocean's 12 describe how Ocean's group handles being the target rather than being the targeter. There are plenty of funny moments and the ending to me suggested there might be an Ocenan's 13???. In my opinion I like sequels that do not attempt to copy the original's theme and atmosphere and thus keeps the series fresh rather than repeating it and making both seem dull.
In other words I like to see creativity or something I have not seen before or do not expect in the movies I see.

Movie Review: Good movie with good casts
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a truly good movie. I feel that I never regret of watching this. First reason is the casts are the all-time famous actors/actresses like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Those are all good casts. Maybe I can say that it is like "Infernal Affairs". Ah-huh. What I mean is the actors do actually steal the show. Second reason is the visuals is good and finally, the story is good and somewhat funny. I like it and it is truly a good recommendation.

Movie Review: A great film. A good movie.
Summary: 5 Stars

The way I feel about Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12 is that, while 12 is not as good as a mindless, fun movie as the first one, it's a far better film. This is where Soderberg turned back into Soderberg and added quirky touches that may not have made the movie as accessible, but much more artistic. It's full of homages to Fellini and films like Rififi and Bob Le Flambour. The story and characters are secondary here, but I found that I didn't care and just ended up watching the great shots and cinematography.
