Movie Reviews of Nowhere to RunMovie Review: good movie point blank.. Summary: 5 Stars
its pretty good van damme dose what he dose best..!! which is fighting nd acting
Movie Review: Claude & Roseanna Show Off Summary: 4 Stars
This is another Jean-Claude Van Damme action flick, but a definite notch above many of his other films, at least in production values. The photography and stereo sound are excellent.
Actually, this is pretty simple stuff and old storyline of a low-key good guy rescuing the girl from local meanies. Here, Van Damme defends Rosanna Arquette and her small kids.
In another respect, the movie is just another avenue for the two stars to show off their incredible bodies. Neither has ever been shy about doing that and certainly aren't in this movie. My only objection is having one of the kids make a sexual remark, which is done in here. There is no excuse for that.
Ted Levine, who has turned nice guy in the hit TV series "Monk," is an effective bad guy in here. He played a lot of villains before "Monk" came around.
Anyway, it's fairly low-brow entertainment, but at least it is entertaining and fun to watch.
Movie Review: One Of Van Dammes Absolute Best! Summary: 4 Stars
When you think of Van Dammes flicks the first thing that comes to mind is fighting and martial arts.Nowhere to Run is just a straight up action/drama type of film. The beautiful and talented Rosanna Arquette co-stars in the dramatic storyline.Van Damme like in Legionnaire{Van Dammes 1998 release}leaves out the kicks and focuses on the drama, this is the only Van Damme film in which I almost cried to.With heart pulsing drama, straight up action and nerveful humor this film with you keep wanting more. This movie was released in 1993,and is one of Van Dammes best work acting wise.I'm not saying it is a great action film because the film has doubts like the budget. It's a low budget film but still somehow someway keeps you interested.Watch!
Movie Review: Surprisingly Good Summary: 4 Stars
Well lets face it, if you're looking at this DVD then you probably have already seen the film and want to add it to your collection. In case you haven't, this is a surprisingly good film! Personally I'm no fan of Van Damme but this film isn't really a vehicle for him (ie a movie made just for him). Any somewhat manly guy could have played his protective, noble role. Sure he does some jump kicks and whatnot like in his other films, but for the most part it's not really a 100% action film. The story works well, the characters have depth and the pace of the film is effective. I expected a typical Van Damme film and walked away very impressed.
Movie Review: Good movie - but advertised aspect ratio was incorrect Summary: 4 Stars
I already had this movie in a full screen format but wanted to replace that one with a widescreen version. THAT should tell you that I think this movie is a keeper. I daresay it's the best jean Claude Van Damme movie. Has a story, a bit of sex and romance, and, needless to say, some good action.
Anyway, as my review title suggests, the advertised aspect ratio was incorrect and I received another full screen version (which I returned, naturally).
In passing, I just had the exact same experience just yesterday with the DVD "Excess Baggage." Ordered the widescreen - per ad - and received full screen. Annoying and disappointing.
