Movie Reviews of Now and Then

Movie Review: This movie is awesome
Summary: 5 Stars

A while back, my mom was downstairs watching tv, so i decided to watch it with her. It was Now and Then, and i only got to see the last 30 minutes or so, but i thought it was really good. Its kindof like a Stand By Me but with girls, which is no big deal, its from a different perspective. So, i saw it come on tv a few weeks ago and taped it, and i finally got to see the whole thing. I thought it was awesome, there are alot of funny parts and i like the whole 60's era thing going on. It looks like it might have been fun with the old fashioned restraunts and stuff. So anyway, this is a really good movie and being a guy is no big deal. Its still funny and good! So i definately reccomend this movie to anyone with a sense of humor. It seems like it might be more for the pre-teens and teens, but hey my mom likes it so it varies.

Movie Review: Wow!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie and I always will. This film has always helped me cheer up and it also helps me appreciate my life and friendships I have. It also tell me how people ,young or old, can grow so quickly and how much we all need friends to help us muddle through the bad times. This story shows Samantha (Gaby Hoffman and Demi Moore) trying to cope with her parents getting a divorce and how ,even in movies, it is hard to do that. I would say that my favourite character in 'Now and Then' is Roberta (Christina Ricci and Rosie O'Donnell) as she reminds me of myself because she doesn't care about getting dirty and how she sticks up for herself but also as she needs her friends as much as anyone else does. I like all of the characters because they all have such different personalities and that is why I love this film so much.

Movie Review: Uplifting Drama
Summary: 5 Stars

Now and Then is the perfect movie for the girls. No matter what your age, you will have a great time. It is about four friends who meet when they are all grown up, recalling the summer of 1970. Together, they share secrets, get mad at one another, and show their emotions. Take a trip down memory lane with Chrissy,(Ashleigh Aston Moore and Rita Wilson) Roberta,(Christina Ricci and Rosie O'Donnell) Teeney,(Thora Birch and Melanie Griffith) and Samantha,(Gaby Hoffmann and Demi Moore). This movie brings out the spirit in you and definately proves that girls just wanna have fun!-And if you really love the 60's and 70's, and you enjoyed the movie, check out the soundtrack as well.

Movie Review: Personal Classic
Summary: 5 Stars

Great Movie! Great Music! Great story line! This fabulous film begins in the present, introduces the four main adult characters, and slips back
to the summer they were 12 yrs. old, and made the pact that has brought them together now. This is a story about growing up and into yourself.
'Now and Then' is deliciously well-cast, in both the adult and 12 yr. old roles, and very well presented. And for me, very vivid! (As I was 12 then, and even live to tell the tale...*).
While I classify this as a family friendly movie, I definately recommend it for mother/daughter/grand-daughter/babysitter connections.
Happy viewing!!!

Movie Review: Forget the adults
Summary: 5 Stars

Yeah, so what if Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Rita Wilson, and Melanie Griffith didn't put out stellar performances. They're in the movie for a total of maybe 15-20 minutes. Instead, focus on the brilliant performances of Gaby Hoffmann, Thora Birch, Ashleigh Aston Moore, and, in particular, Christina Ricci. This movie is about four girls and a summer that changed them, but still kept tight the bond that they had, resulting in them coming back after all those years to aide their friend at a turning point in her life. So what if it's a "rip-off" of "Stand By Me". I say, get over it, and enjoy this great movie for females (and males) of all ages.
