Movie Reviews of Noises Off...Movie Review: Great Film....Shoddy DVD Package Summary: 5 Stars
So the film was out of print for a while and now it's come back into print. I couldn't wait to get the DVD of it, because I figured with all the great performances in the movie, there had to be some fantastic special features/outtakes/commentary/whatever.
What did they include with this DVD? NOTHING! Spanish language subtitles....Wow!
It's such a terrific film, it's a shame that the studio couldn't be bothered to make a decent presentation of it on DVD.
Movie Review: How did they keep from laughing in every scene? Summary: 5 Stars
This would make a hilarious play for a high school or local theater performance. The set is fairly simple. The lines are repeated for each performance. You hit the final performance and think it will just be a replay of the previous performance, but no.... everything comes crashing down.
Some of the gags in that final performance were outrageous. Timing is everything. And with pros like these, the timing was perfect. This movie is a hidden gem.
Movie Review: Brilliantly funny, better than Clue... Summary: 5 Stars
I like Clue but Noises off was even better! I wish they would put this on DVD. ... I just saw a rerun on late night TV and had to find it. I found myself waking people up in my house because I was laughing soo hard/loud. The subtle and multiple subplots creates great comedy and Noises off pulls all of them togeather with a lot of laughs in return. I forgot how the old "pants falling off" bit was. Put me in line to buy the DVD any day...
Movie Review: One of the funniest of all time! Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is so funny, I had to watch it three times before seeing/hearing all the jokes. I literally laughed so hard in places I missed parts of the movie. I rank it with What's Up Doc and the In-Laws as one of the funniest movies ever. I have the movie on Laserdisc and the fact that it is not yet available on DVD is one of the reasons my laserdisc player is still hooked up to my TV (the original Star Wars Trilogy is the other reason).
Movie Review: Backstage exposed Summary: 5 Stars
That actors get confused between their real life and their acting on-stage (and backstage) is not quite new, but I never saw it better done than in 'Noises off...'. Above all, I'm more than grateful to the reviewer "archibael", thanks to whom I knew the DVD would be in the original screen format (when it's cropped to full-screen, and especially for good movies, I consider it's a kind of swindle and refrain from buying).
