Movie Review: Bloody Brilliant

I really do love this film. It's worth seeing for Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, Denholm Elliott, Julie Hagerty, Marilu Henner, Mark Linn-Baker, Christopher Reeve, John Ritter, and Nicolette Sheridan alone. Well actually, that's pretty much the entire cast. What I mean is, it's great fun to watch these nine people lose their minds trying to get plates of sardines on and off the stage. The script is a thing of beauty, quick-paced (snap snap snap!), honestly witty, and the cast actually does it real justice - even through the grueling and brilliantly choreographed physical comedy. This DVD Title is the funniest of all time videos. I was thinking of purchasing this tittle for a long time now many people would agree that when Carol Burnett and Michael Caine get together the house gets wild. The stage just comes alive. Stage left stage right your eyes just cant fathom the fact that all time best actors and actresses exsist in this title. I really want to know when I can purchase this title as soon as it is available on DVD. If you have not watched this you are definitely behind the curve ball. This is one of my favorite movies ever. The premise is unique and the cast is hilarious, especially John Ritter. The first part of the movie takes place during the play's dress rehearsal, ultimately showing us how the show is supposed to go. The second part of the movie takes place more backstage, showing us how horribly the cast is getting along while still putting on this show every night. By the third part of the movie, their backstage antics are spilling out onto their stage performances even more so. This movie has a combination of subtle humor as well as flat-out funny stuff. I discovered this jewel of a comedy years ago on lasar disk(originally British). What an amazing job the superb cast does with this farce; it is so fast paced, and has some very complicated and precise timing. I laughed out loud so often (and I rarely LOL or like slapstick), I had to watch it three or four times before I heard all of the snappy, funny diologue! It is not all sight gags, it is witty as well. It is great fun. Why this film did not receive the more notice when it was released...I can't imagine. I rate it as one of my all time favorite comedies and highly recommend it.Movie Review: Comedic Masterpiece

I bought this DVD mostly because of the magnificent talents of Burnett (she's so, ya know!) and was immediately entranced not only by cooky Carol but the rest of the cast as well. John Ritter, Michael Caine, Christopher Reeves....All amazing people with so much to give! Their timing is perfect and hilarious. Watch out for all of those lovely missed lines and mixed up cues that the cast throws out. Brilliant. Just brilliant. If you like any of the cast members or if you're just looking for a side-splitting laugh, this is definitely something to pick up!
