Movie Reviews of Nine QueensMovie Review: Don't watch Matchstick Men (ripoff). Watch this movie. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a brilliant film. It is about an ultimate con, one that comes along once in a lifetime, to paraphrase one of the characters. It is so fast paced that even though you try to keep each detail in mind, you run out of room. The ending (even if you get a part of it earlier on) will still make you want to see the movie again and again, just to see where the clues were. After I saw Nine Queens it's been remade in the US twice under different titles. Watch the original. It is so much better.
Movie Review: a great flick Summary: 5 Stars
i saw this movie on a hunch with a few friends. hey, we like our independent films. it completely blew us away. jean plays the innocent street urchin brilliantly, while marcos is even better as the man who always tries to screw everybody. while i call it brilliant, there weren't too many surprises in this double-cross movie. pretty much just guess at the opposite of what is happening and you're right. but it was still a brilliant piece of filmmaking. go see it. definitely.
Movie Review: This Movie (and Ricardo Darin) Seduces You Summary: 5 Stars
This movie holds your interest throughout the entire film and keeps you guessing. The question is who is conning who.
This movie was made in Argentina, complete with beautiful scenery and photography.
There is also a lot of humor, action and suspense, which you seldom find in one movie.
I received this movie for my birthday and it was the best present I received. If you are a Ricardo Darin fan, don't miss this one! He is one sexy man.
Movie Review: Fantastic movie - close to the bone Summary: 5 Stars
I lived in Argentina for nearly four years, mostly in Buenos Aires, the capital city and location of this plot. It is well crafted, well interpreted and well produced. The characters are quite believable. The "Porteno" (sorry, no enye) is world famous for his slick tounge and lack of scruples. I KNOW some people like that in Argentina. If you shake hands with these scam artists count your fingers before leaving the meeting :-).Great movie. Enjoy.
Movie Review: One of the (if not the) best Summary: 5 Stars
Nine Queens is probably the best Argentinean movie I've ever seen, along with Esperando la Carroza, Son of the Bride and Caballos Salvajes or at least my favorite. The movie is full of those tricky situations and turnarounds most people enjoy, you get the feel that you don't know what's gonna happen next and that's what makes it so entertaining: it makes you want to see what's gonna happen next. It's extremely ingenious and fun, totally worth a try.
