Movie Reviews of Nina's Heavenly DelightsMovie Review: A Fluffy Confection of a Film Summary: 4 Stars
Nina's Heavenly Delights is a lighter-than-air, fun film about family, the meeting of cultures and the sensual pleasures of life - like food and sex. Er, I mean love. Between very cute young women.
The story is dead easy to follow, the actors likeable and the aftertaste sweet. Both Shelley Conn as Nina, the daughter who has returned to Scotland after her father's death, and Laura Fraser as the local girl who captures her heart, are charming and cute.
The plot, in which Nina decides to take up her late father's mission to win a local Indian restaurant competition, could be a little more challenging, but this isn't Oscar territory. What it is, is an angst-free lesbian love story that leaves you smiling - and maybe a little hungry for a samosa or two. I would serve a nice bottle of bubbly with this film.
Movie Review: Nice love story Summary: 4 Stars
This is about two (Lesbian) women in love. The thing which made the film nice, is that it seemed sincere as a love story, and while the usual elements of gay love being unacceptable to some are in there, it is not another one of those "we are so mistreated because we are gay" films, as so many have been. Also, there is an equally important, if not moreso, plot, proceeding at the same time that the two girls begin to fall for each other. BTW-If you buy this, you might find some of the previews a bit harder to deal with than the actual movie, as they seem to go painfully near being lewd in a couple of cases.
Movie Review: Very satisfied - Summary: 4 Stars
Being a huge collector of movies, I was impressed with this movie. Although I do not make a habit of purchasing movies unless I've seen them prior, I took a chance on this one and was happy I did. Sweet story line, I thought it did a great job in portraying a culture who is typically hush concerning matters of homosexuality with respect as well as open-mindedness. I enjoyed the music and plot and would definitely recommend this to others. Thank you! :)
Movie Review: Cute & Enjoyable Summary: 4 Stars
I found Nina's Heavenly Delights to be an enjoyable fair. Rated against other lesbian film, I'd say it's great; but as just a film against all films, it's just cute and enjoyable. I did enjoy both the two primary actresses. The storyline centered around Indian food that looked and sounded great, making me crave curry dishes and my favorite San Francisco Indian food restaurant.
Movie Review: Pretty Good Summary: 4 Stars
I liked this movie a lot. The characters are well casted (eventhough i think they could've done better with the casting of "Lisa")... on screen chemistry is very good between the main characters. Didn't like the director commentary. But other than that, great for those who believe in fairy tales..
