Movie Reviews of Night of the CreepsMovie Review: A Fan Favorite 80s horror film finally on DVD Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great fun horror comedy about alien worms taking over people - turning them into zombies. They fly into your mouth and take over your mind. Jason Lively, Tom Atkins are out to stop them. The plot is really your basic alien invader story but its a not stop thrill ride, with a good amount of tongue in cheek humor and gore. Lots of worms flying in and out of mouths. Throw in an Axe murderer from 1959 who gets taken over by the worm creatures to add a little spice. A fun movie, just a great film to enjoy over and over.
For those that own the Laserdisc and VHS you can finally put them out to pasture. Night of the Creeps' DVD is loaded with interviews with cast & crew (such as Tom Atkins, Fred Dekker),the alternate ending, among other great bonus features including a making of movie. This movie received the royal treatment - something that this movie deserves. This could be the horror release of the year quite frankly. This is a movie that in my opinion inspired the movie Slither to a certain degree with the worm monsters...
I think that if you like horror and movies like the Gate, Zombie Nightmare, this is an easy pick up (for those never seeing this) and for those that have seen it & have waited forever for a DVD release, you've wish has come true, big time
This is a MUST !!
Movie Review: Girls! The good news is..."Creeps" is on DVD! Summary: 5 Stars
"Night of the Creeps" is one of my favorite horror-comedy films. It came out in 1986, when I was a senior in high school, and due to a lot of the in-jokes with the film character names and just the volume of eminently quotable movie lines, swiftly became very popular with my group of friends. It was often on Showtime or Cinemax later, and then it just...disappeared, having never received a wide release on video. One of the most memorable things about "Creeps" for me was that one of the lead actors was portrayed as having a physical disability, which was rarely, if ever, seen in film.
But we 80's kids never forget, and finally we're getting "Creeps" on DVD, and even Blu-Ray! If you recognize the male lead, Jason Lively, but can't place him, it's because he was "Rusty Griswold" in 'European Vacation.'
Fun fact: "Night of the Creeps" and "Gossip Girl" are related! Jason Lively is Blake Lively's half-brother, per IMDB.
Oh, and don't confuse "Night of the Creeps" with "Night of the Comet." Although both are cheesy, "Creeps" is far superior.
Movie Review: "The good news is your dates are here. The bad news is...they're dead." Summary: 5 Stars
Just why oh why did it take so long for Night of the Creeps to make its way to DVD and Blu-Ray? Whatever the reason, it isn't important now because here it is, the cult classic from Fred Dekker (who also directed another cult classic that took its time coming to DVD, The Monster Squad), and watching it now, all these later, Night of the Creeps ends up being just as enjoyable as it always has been. A delirious mix of homage to 50's sci-fi/horror flicks, slasher films, and zombie flicks; Night of the Creeps is just too fun to properly describe in one paragraph, let alone a full review. The film is presented here in all its uncut glory, and it looks and sounds better than it ever has before as well. Not to mention that there is a boatload of special features included here, which in themselves are worth the price of admission alone, and just like the release of The Monster Squad, Dekker displays the love he has for his work. With all that being said, if you enjoy tongue-in-cheek bloody fun with a bit of a morbid sense of humor, Night of the Creeps is wholeheartedly worth your time.
Movie Review: Thrill Me! Summary: 5 Stars
The single best monster/zombie flick of the late-80's. Alien brain-slugs enter through the mouth and turn its victim into a zombie, walking it around until it finishes eating the brain, when the body drops to the ground, the head pops open and the next generation of brain slugs spread to the next victims. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Took the tropes of teen horror comedies and set them on their ear. Tom Atkins (Detective Cameron) gets almost all the best lines in the film, including the title of this review and the poster's tag-line, "The good news is, your dates are here, the bad news is they're dead".
The slugs inspired the equally entertaining and strong "Slither" from a year or two back, and the comedy inspired a whole bunch of horror films with laughs (such as the Critters films) that never came close to the quality of this one.
I expect the DVD release to shock everyone, as all the people who bought the crap-quality bootlegs over the decades "trade up" to a good copy.
A lost classic. You're gonna love this.
Movie Review: it is ature cult classic Summary: 5 Stars
i had this movie for a whlie now just never posted a review but besied that the flim is remember for a very good reason. night of the creeps is one of the best yet still overlooked eights sci-fi/horror flim out there. the movie got some claassic one-liners{coming courtsy of tom atkins} and some good homoges to some classic horror flims of the time{the movie was made back in 86} the movie has aged very well for the most part and is still entertaining.
i've would have{along with a lot of other people} been please with a stanard dvd release but thankfully well got a special edtion that not only has the dirctors cut of the flim but a whole line_up of other features. including two seprate commetarys{one by the dirctor and one by the cast members} and newly filmed interview with the cast and crew. so overall give it up to sony for showing this flim the love it desevers. now only if they can do the same with night life
