Movie Reviews of Night School: An Evening With Stanley Clarke & Friends

Movie Review: You Da Man, Stan!
Summary: 5 Stars

Try to do the impossible and ignore efluvia like Flea, et al - and politically incorrect as it must seem to say this, Stevie Wonder's set is...Uuummm. Still: despite the recent, rather-embarassing-for-all-parties-concerned, "New Barbarians" thing, Stanley Clarke is THE HEIR APPARENT to Jaco. I KNOW: I'M a fairly excellent bass player myself, and, with the possible exception of Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke is now the finest bass player alive. There it is: DEAL with it.

Movie Review: Stan's the man (does anyone think otherwise?)
Summary: 5 Stars

He has the uncanny ability to make every facet of his playing appear effortless, and at the risk of using yet another cliche, it's like he was born with a bass in his hands. I must say that I expected more extensive footage of him playing in some heated sessions as I have viewed in the past. Other than the all star jam session at the end of the DVD, i have to say that the disk was lacking just a 'tad' more of that kinda' action. (By the way, where was Victor Wooten?)

Movie Review: Stanley is back.
Summary: 5 Stars

Stanley Clarke proves that he is a major contributor in the jass/fusion field. Guests include Bela Fleck, Stewart Copeland, Marcus Miller and more for a number of riveting musical segments culminating in a major all-out version of School Days.
A "must have" DVD for any serious bass guitar fan.

Movie Review: Bass heaven
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a dream CD for bass players on all levels. Stanley Clarke in one of best bassist in the world and Stanley brings out the best in other players around him. Stanley Clarke is even humble enough to work with you even if you are not on his level, that's what makes him great.

Movie Review: A must have..
Summary: 5 Stars

Finally something from Stanley that I can be proud to own in the last ten years. I was getting a little worried about him. I'm waiting for his new one to arrive and hopefully give it a good rating as well.
