Movie Reviews of Narrow MarginMovie Review: A "little" movie with big action - Hackman is wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
Every once in a while, a movie surprises us. Once, we arrived late at a theatre for the movie we wanted to see and couldn't get in. We had to settle for "Night Hawks" - a movie we thought was going to be another Stallone cookie cutter money maker. Wow, were we wrong. The same thing applies to Narrow Margin. First, it's a remake of an earlier film (1952) and for once, the remake is vastly superior to the original. Hackman is the reason to watch this film - he is pitch perfect as the non-action hero. He is an honest every-man who has to deal with a reluctant witness, relentless hit-men, a speeding train and danger at every turn. Hackman's character maintains his cool, wise cracking his way through encounters with the people who want him and his witness dead.
Crisp writing. Sharp dialog. non-stop action and great direction and editing - this film has it all. It's a real surprise and great escape-est entertainment.
Movie Review: DVD movie : Narrow Margin Summary: 5 Stars
Review of "Narrow Margin".
Who could'nt love the trains and the Canadian scenery?
But further I am a Hackman fan so for me it is easily worth
buying to watch and loan to family etc. The R must be for
violence but it not excessive compared to any ordinary day
of commercial TV.
Bad guys (hired killers) chase the seemingly inept Gene
and Anne Archer up and down the cross-Canada touring
type train, and at stations along the way. At some point
you start thinking ... this is familiar, I've seen this before.
Because the story is a re-use of a previous classic tale
involving a train. But that does'nt hurt this movie at all.
Buy it; Cheaper than going to movies nowadays!

Movie Review: maybe not as good as the first but still very slick Summary: 5 Stars
In every movie that he does gene hackman gets one scene where he quotes from the bard and one of his more famous plays, and this movie has that scene in it also. Now in some of these scenes (uncommon valor , targets, and hoosiers), this scene is is very moving and has some weight to it, and in some (loose cannons, lucky lady, and yes, superman the movie), this scene is just silly and is there so mr. hackman can feel like he's really acting. that said, the scene in this movie is very effecting and gives the part a nice spin. mr. hackman and annie archer make a great odd couple and the tense train ride is very well done . so if you like your thrillers with a little meat, and your heros a little bit more well read then this fine little movie will suit you just fine.
Movie Review: You're tall! Summary: 5 Stars
Has Gene Hackman ever made a film that did not, in some way, result in a bruised forearm?
Here, he must bring a reluctant (read: ain't-gonna-do-it-no-how-no-way) witness from the Canadian Rockies to LA, by train, to testify against a BAD DUDE. Seems she may have seen a murder take place.
But the fun is watching him stick to his guns long after the guns appear to have been emptied.
I won't spoil the ending... but "You're tall!" takes on a whole new meaning.
Movie Review: One of Hackman's Best Movies Summary: 5 Stars
This DVD has plenty of extras. The picture and sound on this DVD make the movie look like it was just made recently. Gene Hackman has some really good one liners in this movie. Plenty of suspense, comedy, and action.
