Movie Review: AMAZING FILM
Summary: 5 Stars

WOW!! I'm surprised that a lot of you guys don't get it. It is far more in depth than the other two qatsi's. THe FILM IS NOT STRICTLY ABOUT WAR WITH OTHER COUINTRIES, YOU KNOW, THE TRADITIONAL SENSE OF WHAT WAR IS. Instead it shows the many different things that people fight wars with...environment, religion, social acceptance, technology, science, some political wars, etc. Furthermore it encompasses all of the things that fuel these wars, i.e. self gratification, convenience, patriotism, money/wealth, and all around pleasure. I am not knocking you who don't get it, but watch the movie with these things in mind and you may enjoy it more. I actually enjoy it more every time i watch it. Some of the best footage of all the qatsi's is in this film. The opening scene is amazing of the tower of babbal, if you don't know what it is or what its purpose in the movie is, think about it and you'll realize how perfect it is. AMAZING FILM!!! A+++++

Movie Review: Gorgeous and Stunning
Summary: 5 Stars

Loved it, even though I'm still not sure what the message is!

Koyaanis was straightforward, simple and impactful. Strongest entry in the series.

Powaq was too esoteric. Unless you knew intimately what the locations, cultures, rituals and routines the film depicted were, you were missing the point, as I always have.

Naqoy returns to the subject of the USA, but I'm not sure what Reggio is saying. I expected something immediate and impactful, as Koyaanis had been, but instead I'm puzzled and feel the meaning to be very vague.

Maybe it's a matter of cracking the code. I hate to say it, but the film needs a commentary track by Reggio in which he deliniates what the images mean to him and why he chose them!

For all that, it's still a deep, beautiful, and confounding film. It certainly twists my mind around, but in a way too ineffable to understand.

Movie Review: Profound and Enlightening
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the third installment to a 3 part series. Due to advancements in modern technology, this one is more visually stunning. An excellent blend of Cinematography and Editing over a bed of music scored by Phillip Glass. To the discerning eye, here-in lies many of the reasons the world has been in decline for so long. Fabricated by their own hands, mankind is the architect of its own demise. The inclusion of the Hopi Indian prophecy quotes add a thought provoking, and often times stunning, characteristic to the work. I would Suggest watching a DVD called: HOME, by Yann Arthus-Bertrand (20th Century Fox), and then watch this DVD.

Movie Review: The Human Condition
Summary: 5 Stars

This film has brought new definition to our mundane everyday image of our civilization. Allowing us to see humanity from a frightening and alien perspective. This film focuses on the destructive nature of our industries, and the hive like nature of the ideal metropolis.

The title of the film, taken from an 11th century Hopi Native prophesy, is the essence of this film itself. A prophetic portrayal of modern man, taken from that very altruistic people that stood victim like no other to manifest destiny and all its destructive nature.

This film will frighten you, engage you, and change your world forever.

Movie Review: THIS FILM DESERVES RESPECT - ASPECT RATIO FIX
Summary: 5 Stars

MASTERWORKS LIKE THIS DON'T ARRIVE EVERYDAY, YEAR, OR DECADE!!! Amazing Soundtrack + Hypnotic/Dazzling Imagery + Philosophical Criticism of Human Behavior/Society = HIGH ART (not for the mediocre-minded). If you're an artist, or great lover of art/philosophy, I believe this movie IS for YOU!!! However, there's only ONE way to know for certain -- GET IT AND WATCH IT (with an open mind). NOTE: To view this film in its proper aspect ratio with an ordinary 4:3 TV or monitor, setup your DVD player so that the TV type = 16:9
