Movie Review: NYPD Blue is a gritty show full of drama

I purchased this DVD because of David Caruso who starred in its first season. Then when I got into it I had to have the other seasons as well.
I just wonder IF New York city is that conjested and crowded, the 15th precinct shows a down and dirty part of the city. I enjoy the series, but sorry NY is a place I would definately wouldn't want to live.

I never saw NYPD Blue when it was originally shown, but I've been watching the reruns and really got hooked. I had to get the entire first season DVD and find out how it all started, and I was totally amazed at the intense performance of Dennis Franz. Rewatching NYPD Blue has been terrific. We can't stop watching. The writing is crisp and original. The casting is superb, and the acting is top notch. Seasons 1 through 4 are available on DVD. Definitely the best season of them all....David Caruso was excellent on the show..a shame he decided to leave. I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1. Agree with another reviewer about this being the show's best season. The stories were fantastic, the acting top-notch, and Caruso perfectly embodied the noble Irish NYC cop with an intensity that left the show with a giant emotional hole once he departed.
