If you're already a fan, then you already know. If, however, you're not, this is the place to start. NRBQ are a national treasure, hell, Keith, yeah, that Keif, calls them the greatest live band ever [he hand picked Joey, Q bassist, vocalist, for the band that he assembled to back Chuck Berry in the "Hail, Hail Rock'n'Roll" spectacle].
But here's the deal, NRBQ are first and foremost a life altering experience to witness live. Especially with big Al absolutely blistering the pink paisley off the Telecaster that happened to be his weapon of massive rockin' on this particular evening. I have pretty much everything the Q have released and if I could only keep one item it would be this DVD, because as brilliant as their records are, this is the one thing that takes me back to the jaw-dropping awe I felt the first time I saw the band live [which was several years prior to this release].
No band can tear it up quite like Terry, Joey, Tommy and Big Al, who all are such ace musicians that due to the casual ease they display, while in spite of what for mere mortals would be the performance of a life time, to witness the boys here, belies the absolute command they have of their respective instruments, to say nothing of the pure music that must flow through their veins in lieu of blood.
I could go on and on [and those who know me would testify to that fact] but, although the other reviews posted here are positive, I worry that you, potential listener, may not be moved enough to make "the purchase" that could change every thing you ever thought you knew about the band that changed your life that you didn' yet know about.
So I implore you, git it!!! And then buy "At Yankee Stadium" and "Grooves In Orbit" at which point you'll have become a "Q" people. Either that or you don't like music to begin with and I wasn't talking to you anyhow!!!!!!!!!
