Movie Reviews of Mylene Farmer Live A BercyMovie Review: Excellent DVD...but beware it's PAL not NTSC Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a Mylène Farmer super-fan; not only that, I would dare to say that I'm a devote admirer of hers; I own all of her studio albums and two of her three Live albums, plus all her DVDs.
Sadly her DVDs have only been edited in France, which means they are Zone 2 and compatible with PAL System DVD players and TV sets; so, unless you own a multizone DVD player, compatible with both NTSC and PAL systems, plus a multizone TV set, compatible with NTSC and PAL systems, you won't be able to experience this great DVD, unless it's a bootleg copy made with a software which annuls zone and turns it into "0" and transforms/converts PAL into NTSC compatible.
After this warning for Mylene fans and Amazon buyers, I must say that this 1997 Concert is a top-experience. Mylène is at her prime, after the release of her 1995 Studio Album "Anamorphosée", so the concert is more rock-oriented and has stronger guitars and bass arrangements, in accordance to that album's style.
The Concert's opening is awesome, maybe not as jaw-dropping as the incomparable opening of her 2001 "Mylenium Tour" Concert, but still impressive, with a radiant, beautiful Mylène, dressed (or perhaps "undressed") in futuristic style (a-la-1997) by noted couturier Paco Rabanne.
The selection of songs consists of almost all the tracks from "Anamorphosée", plus others from her albums "L'Autre" (1991)(4), "Ainsi soint Je" (1988)(2) and "Cendres de Lune" (1986)(1); and two goodies: "La Poupée quit fait Non" and "Que mon coeur lāche".
Mylène's magic; her excellent live rendition of all the songs; the great rapport with her audience and fans; the sexy and elegant dance ensembles with her troupe of dancers; the deep sentiment and warmth with which she sings her ballads; multiple changes of wardrobes; her "oomph"; all of it, is at full display in this one-in-a-lifetime experience.
So if you have the technical requirements, enjoy this prodigy!
