Movie Reviews of My Super Ex-GirlfriendMovie Review: So I Married G-Girl Summary: 4 Stars
This is low-concept but it works on it's meager intentions to merely entertain. This came out during the dog days of summer when you park your brain cells and the makers of the film were wise to realize this. In other words it's stoopid(good) as opposed to stupid(bad). The talented cast is in on the gag and run with it. A slumming Uma Thurman is terrific as the super-heroine whose alter ego is neurotic, manipulative and controlling. A high point is the put upon look on Uma's face when she's compelled to interrupt her lunch to intercept a missile about to destroy the city. Luke Wilson, an adequate actor at best, suffices as the everyman who get's to live every manchild's fantasy(so he thinks). Eddie Izzard is okay as the perfunctory villain but when is Hollywood going to better utilize his prodigious talents? I saw him 10 years ago on the London stage playing Lenny Bruce and he was nothing short of brilliant. Ditto, for Anna Faris who is just as much brains as beauty and given a marginal chance to shine here. Not great but has cult potential.
Movie Review: An interesting take on a superhero movie. Looks at the question why superheros are lonely Summary: 4 Stars
This was a movie that turned out better than I expected. It made me question, are superheros lonely becuause they are busy all the time saving the world, or are they lonely because they have personality flaws and are crazy? Well, its something most people don't ever think about. Luke wilson plays a man that happens to start dating a girl he met on the subway saving her purse from a mugger. Little does he know what is in store for him...he's dating G-girl (uma thurman), a super hero. Well, as with many early relationships, this one just is not working out...she's a bit needy/possessive and he's in love with someone else, but how do you break it off with a superwoman. Well, this movie will answer that question, and its actually has some funny moments. Yes, its not an acadamy award winner, but its entertaining. Cheap enough to buy on amazon, but at least rent this one and check it out.
Movie Review: "Why did G-Girl just throw a shark at us?" Summary: 4 Stars
A very pleasant surprise, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, is a romantic comedy that brings to the screen the story of a rather unlucky (when it comes to relationships) guy who catches the eye of one hot superheroine. Things become a bit complicated when he realizes that dating a superheroine is not easy...
Luke Wilson, Uma Thurman, Anna Faris, and the rest of the cast, have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are outstanding to say the least! All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows! Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few laughs.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor, and the music (!) are all wonderful!
In short, My Super Ex-Girlfriend is a movie definitely worth watching, as it will surely put you in a good mood!
Movie Review: My Super Ex-Girlfriend Summary: 4 Stars
In New York, when the shy and lonely project manager of a design firm Matt Saunders meets Jenny Johnson in the subway, he invites her to date and have dinner with him. Jenny immediately falls in love for him, they have sex and she discloses her true identity to him, telling that she is the powerful superhero G-Girl. After meeting his co-worker and friend Hannah Lewis, the needy Jenny becomes jealous, controlling and manipulative, and Matt follows the advice of his best friend Vaughn Haige and dumps her, breaking her heart. Jenny turns Matt's life into hell, while he has a romance with Hannah. However, the archenemy of G-Girl and former high school sweetheart of Jenny, Professor Bedlam, proposes Matt to lure Jenny to strip her superpowers. Uma Thurman is perfect as the mercurial super-heroine, mysteriously named G-Girl. It's a delightful movie.
Movie Review: Funny movie, original idea--writing could have been better Summary: 4 Stars
Imagine if your psycho ex had super powers--she might actually try to kill you! What a lemony twist of black comedy. I like how harried and annoyed G-Girl behaves at having to save the city all the time. I love how Matt tells her like it is no holds barred further aggravating her violently jealous side. Even after she emblazons "DICK" on his forehead he still isn't that afraid of her. The shark scene is an amazing special effect, but the "sex" scenes with her destroying the bed are a bit stupid but funny in hindsight. If the writers had taken a little more time with the script they could have made a more lasting impression flick with better dialogue but overall it's a good laugh. Worth watching more than once.
